Because of my cats lip malfunction (the rodent ulcer - which is getting better) I have to put her on a high protein diet. What canned foods have the highest protein.....anyone know? I looked in the store tonight and Friskies had the highest @ 12% protein....but I'm wondering if there is something even better?
I guess it depends on how much you want to spend? I don't have any idea how much the one you looked at cost or what the cost is on these, but Innova has 42% protein...I was looking up others, like Natural Balance, but couldn't find how much protein that has.
There are several flavors of the Natural Balance. I am using Hairball Management Formula. It may not have the highest protein, it is 9%, but it is extremely palatable. I like the way it smells. My cat's litter does not smell, when I use others I notice the difference. I ran out last week, and the nearest pet store is a 20 min. drive so I label read everything at the grocery store. 90% of them I would not feed if you paid me...The winner was 2 types w/ almost exactly the same ingredients, and only the one flavor passed muster with my standards. Both labels say Ocean Whitefish Dinner. One is labeled Purina/Friskies-special diet, the other is Safeway Select premium quality-special diet. Because they are near identical in ingredient, they may be manufactured together... They are 10% protein. They are labeled low magnesium/to reduce urinary ph. I fed them last week. I was thrilled at the price, they were 3 or 4 for $1, the Natural Balance is a dollar a can. I like the Natural Balance better...
I use Nutro Natural Choice kibble for my dogs. I am very happy with it, and their new Ultra line is beyond me pricewise, but is the best that there is. I raised my last two litters of pups on it. That's why Kitty's so purdy...
