calming down?

I was wondering at what age do dogs and cats usually start calming down. I know it varies with breed and indivdual personalities.I was just wondering around what age is usually typical.

My Lab for instance is 2 1/2 and is calmer now then she use to be as long as she gets her walk in the morning.

Also someone told me with cats that they calm down around 15 months, is this true?

Just curious, I'm in no hurry for my babies to grow up.

I am not sure on cats, as it has been so long since i have had one.  The one i did just get from the pound is a 2-3 year old nut/male persian, he is not calm.  on dogs, it seems the littler one acted like puppies all of their lives, and the bigger breed calm down at 2-3 years or in my brothers case they had a litter before they calmed down he has labs. my boarder collie mix has not calmed down and is 3-4

I tell people that Labs calm down when they drop dead at 15, just so they have no misconceptions when getting a puppy.

Most dogs start to calm down around two or three, but "calming down" is relative.  Argus will be 5 at the beginning of the summer, but she has so much energy that people still mistake her for a puppy.  However, she is much calmer than she was as a puppy.  When Arg was a puppy, I had people with JRTs, field labs, and border collies tell me that they could never live with a dog with that much energy.

So true Kitty's mom! My fam had lots of lab mixes growing up and it seemed like they never "calmed down." I def agree with protodog that it all very relative. It also depends on the breed, i would guess. No idea about cats though--sorry :(
