I am shaking pretty bad right now. There has been another problem with Rusty involved in a fight. this time it was him that attacked my Rambo. The staffie with hip issues. I am pretty shaken up right now there is blood all over the place and Rambo's face is tore open. The emergency vet wil not even look at him unless I have money up front and my vet is closed until 8 AM. Rambo's face is bad.
He was playing with pepper the puppy and out of nowhere rusty tore across the yard and attacked him. I broke them up pretty fast so I suppose it could have been much worse. But I am just really shaking right now. I can't stop shaking. UGH Everyone is getting muzzled from now on.

Awww, i'm sorry pits. Why the emergencey vet won't look at him is beyond me. My emergencey one would look at my pups in a second without careing about money. I hope that little Rambo is ok, and that Rusty's attitude changes. =(
Try to find another ER vet and just go there. Let them treat him and then they will have to work out a payment plan with you if you say you dont have the money. A good vet will treat the dog regardless of ability to pay upfront.
If all else fails take him to a human emergency room. I have seen that done before. I would not call the vet ahead of time - just GO.
Is your husband home, or is there a friend you can call to come over? I find that it helps to have another human present during a dog crisis, someone who can actually see what's going on.

I agree with Ansy--just go to the ER vet--i know mine wont refuse to treat in an emergency especially. Is there another one in the area? I'm so sorry Pits. I hope everything is ok and keep us posted.
Hope all goes well PD. I agree with the rest. JUst take him to the vet. The $$ situation will work out. If not try and clean it up with some mild soap and water, and if you should have clippers use them to clip the area. Let us know please.
Oh gosh, use an e-collar to keep her from touching it. Clean it with sterile water. I think soap in an open wound may hurt. It should be ok till morning. Its not oozing blood is it. apply pressure to see if you can get it to stop.
Dorothy has also said they wil lrefuse treatment without money up front and honestly I am kinda scared to take him to the er vet anyway because of his breed. I know my vet knows me and would never do me wrong but an ER vet might see a staffie torn up and think sog fighting and call the police. I don't want this to be turned into something it is not. I posted the pictures do you think it needs to be seen immediatly or do you think he wil be ok til the am? There is such a big controversy here in Georgia now over the bul breeds I just do not want problems is all. The bleeding has stopped and he is resting and sedated. If you al think it is bad enough to warrent immediate care I wil risk it but if not and you think it can wait till morning then I think that would be the safest option. I am really too shaken up to think straight now. I nearly got bit trying to seperate them. It was pretty scary.

Dog fights suck. If you stemmed the bleeding, you should be good till morning. Just go as a walkin to your regular vet, early tommorrow. With people, face wounds tend to bleed way worse than they really are. That sucks so bad, do you have any friends/mom/relatives that are doctors or nurses? It would be easy to stitch up. I am so careful who I release with who, I delineate between ages and personalities. If I have to, they go outside one at a time. I, however, have Labradors, and although some of them are as unpredictable as other breeds, they are fairly easy to deal with. I don't trust any dog at all. They do instinctive weirdies that have no rational basis I do well with dogs that probably would never have been a problem, because I saw fighting Labs growing up. I got between them once, and I know what you mean. They are so into it, there is no rationalizing w/them. They are crazed. When they come to, they are so contrite and apologetic, and it is way too late.
P&D, I'm truely sorry to read about your terrible night last night. I know the feeling. Our male Rat Terrier attacked Kisses our brown Standard when Kisses was only 8 weeks old. We had only had her two days. I got up and went to the kitchen and found my wife on the floor with Kisses, crying, and blood all over. For some reason he had attacked Kisses outside when they were out pottying. He permanently damaged the nerve in her left eye when his tooth went into her temple. She is permanently blind in that eye now, and he went to a Rat Terrier Rescue within a couple of days. He was placed with a school teacher up north and he now goes to school with her everyday and plays with the kids. I hope Rambo is OK .

I"m so sorry, Pits!! That must've been awful!! I hope Rambo is okay and that Rusty will be fine with him from now on. It is probably a good thing that you're taking them to get fixed as this will probably help a lot. I hope everything's okay now and please let us know what happened at the vet's today!!
