Pope Dying?

Lab-retriever.net has people posting back and forth over whether he actually has died. I get more of my news on these forums than the tv that I never watch
I did not even know he was ill.

Poor old guy. I guess he is doing worse than that now. I sent the link to my friend. His wife is Polish. They are very proud of him in Poland. Quite a list of accomplishments.

While the Pope's millions  rest easily in a nice treasure chest he equivocateswomen who have abortions to Joseph Mendel and Nazi Germany and states homosexuals are inherently evil.

Of course he made no mention of pedophile priests!

Whatever for the Pope.  His comments over the years have gotten worse and so has his lack of tolerance for others which I would think would be inopposite to Christian doctrine.

But what do I know... I am just a lowly agnostic still believing in GOD and GOD only.

Next..

Why would they not inform the public if he really has died?

At work, one of the JPL biggies said they are waiting for the Cardinals to congregate and they wap him on the head w/ a silver mallet, to make sure he's dead. Then they choose the successor. I said, are you sure they won't tie him to weights and see if he will float? My, we have progress. They said they were not sure. Then I asked, if possibly an inquisition was necessary to determine if he is ready for the big wazoo. MLS, bail me out if they stake and burn me for these comments. Grim, are you in recieving mode tonight?
Mind you, I make not light of his death, nor his signifigance. I do not tolerate well pomp and ceremony SSSsorry.

The wraping on the head is a old symbolic tradition. The cardinals will be in a special hotel until a succesor is determined. It could take days, to months for a new Pope to be announced. Granted he has made his view public, but that is part of the Catholic religion. No matter what your views are, I think it is not right to make fun of the Catholic traditions, in light of the great affect this will have all over the world.

I don't make fun of any religion but then again I am not religious. I have my own issues with the catholic faith itself and so therefore I am no longer catholic. I was born and raised a Catholic but as you already know am very opinionated and have a mind of my own. it did not go over really well with the sisters when I argued the point that praying to a plaster statue was not going to help a singlew one of us. They were even more apauled when I explained my views on baptisim, slavation and heaven and hell. So me and the catholics just stay in our own corner because most are offended by my views and I have not found one I could have a serious adult conversation with. No offence to anyone here that is catholic as I have no idea nor have I spoken to any of tyou about these issues. Religion and politics causes such a fuss. LOL I try to be very careful when touching this subject.

I'm assuming that you mean you can't have a serious adult converstation about "Religion" with a Catholic? What about other religions? Can you have a serious adult conversation about religion with them?

I too usually stay out of the "Religion" topics. This topic could be very heated...but I respect everyone's views on what ever they believe. I'm raised Lutheran, Married Catholic, but a Christian by choice. I don't have any strong feelings either way...I just don't think this is a matter to take lightly by any faith...as it could have a great impact on the global community.

lol no not that I "CAN'T" just that I have not found one yet that did not get offended and argumentative. I'm sure they are out there lol I just have not run into any yet. And yes actually I have with many other people in many different religions. I have discussed faith and religion with many others. My ex husband was an athiest can you see that match? LOL we locked hornes on more then one occasion. Then after the divorce I became a minister. So yes I can discuss both topics with people just have not found a catholic yet that did not get offended by my views and want to argue rather then discuss.

It just said 30 minutes ago that the Pope did die. Very sad. And let me add since we seem to be discussing religion. I believe in God just not the churches.

Dorothy
Julie, I make fun of anything. The court jester is the power behind the throne. Beware the ire of the bards. I still have not gotten over the witch hunts and torture deaths sanctioned by the same tradition loving individuals, so the rest of their traditions are subject to speculation, as far as I am concerned. Religion, History, and Sociology were my specialties in college.
Pits, I think you would like the Skeptics club that I am in. Locally, they meet at Cal Tech, but they are international

You know it took me a bit to really decide what I wanted to say and if I wanted to say it.

No where in the Bible does it say we must tolerate wickidness. If the Pope (I say if because I never bothered to listen to him even once) made comments about homosexuals and abortion so what? I have a huge grudge against the catholic church to begin with but each is entitled to their own opinion.  "Christian doctrine"?

You know a lot of people think they know so much about the christian doctrine and make comments like "thats not very christian like" and it is starting to tick me off. MOST who comment on it are not even christians themselves which is what really gets me. Many think a christian is supposed to be perfect I can't tell you how many times someone has jumpped me beind an Ordained Minister. Because I don't "act the part." Sheesh people stop being so critical.

It's all just talkneat thing is that you don't get strung up or burned for it, anymore (at least around here, I understand they still hunt you in some countries).
Any day now, we are going to be more evolved than our hairy, knuckle dragging ancestors(yeah, I know, some of your ancestors were emaculately produced whole from earth, fashioned with god's own masculine hands- get over it, everyone knows that god is a girl.)
