HOW MANY HERE COULD STAND TOO LOSE A FEW ?...pounds that is.Well I have been tring to lose again .I was petite most of my life, till I guit smoking, about, well alittle over a year and a half most of my life I was wearing a size 3 or 5 and right before I quit Iwas in a 7,now a size 12. As I mention on here before, after losing my Mom ,who was a smoker to lung cancer, witnesses such a horrible death did it for me.It has be one of my many ways to honor my Mom.Mom was my best friend and there isn't a day go by that my heart hurts for her. It's been a long hard road.Anyway with that said I have gained about 35 lbs since quitting.Im 5'6'' and weigh 160. I have been reallly watching what I have been eating this last week and lost 5 pounds.Tring to keep busy, hard with this darn puter though. So I was wonder if anyone else is trying to lose weight and have any tips to share. Thanks,Deb
Yes i could stand to lose a few. I am 5'4" and weigh 135lbs. I know it isnt anything major but i am a litle chubby i guess. I want to lose another 15 pounds and be back to 120 like i was before i had my daughter. I just dont like giving up yummy food!!!!
I have always tried to lose weight. I have been a plus size my entire life (well, since about age 9). Recently, I found the best thing that works for me is the low carb eating. I don't do it to the extreme that others do though. MOst try to stay below 20 grams a day, which can be unhealthy. I try to stay below 60 grams per day. Before I started doing the low carb thing, I was averaging 200-400 grams of carbs per day! I drink alot of Mountain Dew and each one of them has about 40 grams. By cutting back to 60 grams per day I have still lost a considerable amount of weight in the first month (21 lbs) and I still feel healthy. ALso, ONE day a week I will go out to eat and get my favorite dessert (Usually a Shoney's Hot Fudge Cake w/Ice Cream). This way I win because I am still getting to eat my fav sweets (one day a week) and I'm still losing weight!.
I have always been a big meat eater (my whole family is....I swear we are part dinosaur), so the low carb thing isn't hard for me. The hardest part was cutting out the bread and the soft drinks (because I cant stand the taste of diet drinks). I now just make sweet tea with Splenda - its awesome! As far as the bread, a roll only has about 12 grams, so if I'm really good, I can still squeeze one in on my daily allowance. This is just so much easier.
Last summer I did the low carb thing with 20 grams a day or less. It was HARD trying to stay with grams that low. I did it for 1 month and lost over 30 lbs, but because I deprived myself of everything, I failed the diet (I like to call them eating plans).
I feel much more comfortable on my current eating plan and I's still losing weight.
Low Carb plans dont work for everyone though. Each person varies. Some do very well on Low Fat eating plans.......I don't. I think each person has to figure out what is best for them and stick with it.
One thing that has helped me more than ANYTHING is the fact that my husband could care less whether I diet or not. He loves me being 'big' and makes me feel so comfortable in the body that I have. I never feel pressured to be as 'beautiful' as the other women, because now I know that I already am......I just have a few more pounds than they do...lol. I'll tell you something.......a heavier lady can be one sexy mama if she wants to! I could go into a whole coaching thread about this...lol....but I wont.
I'm gonna be a hottie by summer...lol....I swear.....(a plus size hottie, but still a hottie...lol)
Ok.....I sound like I'm on Oprah....lol.....I need to quit.
and both a bit of a problem here. I need to lose weight too. I don't have a scale, but I'm guessing -50# would not hurt. Plus my skin would get better. I work real hard, so that is good. Dog classes resume from the winter hiatus in 2 weeks, so tubby gets to run around with the dog at the park. , a little extra would not hurt.
Kitty, I love your sense of humor...lol. You crakc me up every day........and the smileys........you do so good with them....I give you the award for the most creative use of smilyes.......hands down!
You know I weigh more now than I have ever weighed in my life even while pregnant with each of my three sons I weighed less than I do now. I'm 32 years old 5'4 and I weigh 159 lbs and I am just miserable with myself. I tried the Atkins diet over the winter and I lost about 22 lbs but as soon as I went off the diet I gained it all back plus a few pounds! I am a Coca Colaholic! Coke is to me like cigarettes and coffee is to others I am addicted. I have tried so many fad diets but they are so hard to follow. Just recently I joined a gym and I have started to drink more water and eat less sweets I have lost a couple of pounds but it just isn't coming off fast enough darn it! Also trying to loose weight is so hard when you have a husband and three boys who do nothing but eat! eat! eat!

Ya'll have done went looney on me now....lol Kitty, I see many days tha I feel like that....lol
Gina, I use to do the same thing you did. I would diet and then 'go off' it once I had lost the weight I wanted. That was my problem, and thats why 'diets' don't work (for people like me).
Thats why I call it an Eating Plan. When you think about having to stay on a diet for the rest of your life you're like NO FREAKIN WAY! But if you have to stay on an Eating Plan the rest of your life, it isn't so bad. I have learned to view what I'm doing as something I will continue to do forever. I won't reach a point and then just stop, and thats what I did for so long. In order to be successful, you have to change your whole way of eating, for the rest of your life. NOw someone like Erica who is already small and only needs to lose a few pounds.....yes a 'diet' would work....because she doesn't have much to lose. But for me, who is considerably larger (I'm 5ft 7in and weigh 200+), a 'diet' will never work. I had to change my eating for eternity, so I better make sure it is a change I can live with. I also have diabetes in my family, so being overweight is only going to bring on the onset of the diabetes. So far, the change is totally 'do-able'. I hope it continues.
Hey......we need to get ltlgto over here on this girly diet thread........men hate that kind of stuff...lol
oh gosh i couldn't do the low carb thing. I have always been told that if you want to lose weight you have to burn more calories than you eat. It has worked for me in the past. I should start working on it a little bit more though. I drink ONLY diet pop....i would rather eat my calories than drink them! LOL I just need to watch my sugar intake better. I CRAVE sugar LOL I plan on walking/ jogging more around my neighborhood more. i use to go to the gym on post but since they don't have a daycare and my husband is deployed it kind of changes things.
I have tried counting carbs and did pretty good on it until we went on vacation.Congrats to you Ansythats something to celebrate!!!!! Right now im just tring to watch what I eat and cut portions. If I deprive myself too much I fail and binge.I made my husband waffles egg, etc. for breakfast yesterday, so I hate a half of a waffle and half an egg. This morning had had two boiled eggs and some fresh fruit.Lunch I had more fruit. Dinner will be a salad, with a pork chop.I know what you mean Gina Im miserable too. So im truly going to try and stick with it this time wish me luck. Thanks for the kind words about my Mom.
yes i could loss more than a few. i started la weight loss and lost 40 pounds, but had to go on steriods, and gained it all back plus 10 pounds, my mom was on this diet and lost 130 pounds, so iam going back on it once i am total off the steriods.
I am so glad this has been brought up. Maybe we should start a weight loss support system. Now I have to say that I am overweight and me and Brad have been dieting for a month now. He has lost 12 and I have lost 11. Slow but surely we are losing the weight. So I figured by Sep. I will be skinny again. When I first got pregnant I weighed 150 and was a size 5 in some things and 7 in others. Now I weigh 195 and wear a size 13. Sad and very depressing. And yes I am tall, 5 foot 9. I always thought that I hold my weight well but it drives me crazy because I was skinny all my life until Kaitlyn. And the diet we are on is a low calorie diet. I only eat 1500 calories a day and 4 days a week I walk and lift weight. We do have two cheat dinners a week too. Without those I would fail.
And to think about it, people like my sister drive me crazy. She is 5'2" and weighs around 100 but at least she is dating a chubby girl. That always makes me feel better. I think I have rambled on enough for now. But with a topic like this I can't help it.
Loss weight! I so need to! Before my son I was 130 (i'm 5'7) after me son I was 170ish. Ya'll know Jarred in the Subway commercials? LOL He wasn't lieing when he said he lost all that weight! I eat 2 subways a day and have lost about 10 LBS in 3 1\2 weeks. I have a Subway where I work and I get them for free so I figured why not try the "Jarred diet"

I'm 33, also 5'4" and 162 pounds. Up until last year I had worn the same size since my early teens. (Except for pregnancy - but the day after my child was born, I was back in my real clothes.) I am not used to putting on weight and I find it pretty disturbing.
I need to do something. I have actually caught myself thinking it's a good thing that Willow Ermengarde is afraid of everything with wheels (cars, trucks, shopping carts, roller blades, etc.) because it means we don't walk - we just sit and eat.
Stormy, don't you get tired of Subway? Personally when I h ave to eat it I feel like I am eating a piece of cardboard, and that it the Subway Melt with lots of mayo. I know that must sound real healthy but hey, I haven't eaten there in over a year.
Now when I cook I do a lot of grilling. I love chicken. And I also eat lots of veggies and fruit. And twice a week for breakfast I will make two pieces of bacon, two scrambled eggs, and one of those hash brown patties. And trust me I will never give up my bacon. When I fry it I cut the pieces in half so it feels like I have more on my plate. I know that sounds weird but hey I love food. And I haven't eaten fast food in a month too. When I used to eat it twice a week.

Yeah it does get really old but I can make my own sandwich so I have a choice. I always make mine right after the bread comes out of the oven thats when it's the best. I love Mayo but Subway now has light Mayo so i use the crap outta that. When it's free you really can't complain too much!
