Winnie's foot! Allergies?

Winnie has been licking the top of her paws lately. When i see her do this I tell her to stop and she does so i didnt think anything of it. Well yesterday she was next to me on the couch and she was doing it agian, i told her to stop and i noticed she had licked away some of the hair and it was red, like a hotspot. It is small, smaller then a penny. Today it doesnt look as bad and i cant even see it cause the hair dried where she was licking. I got some polysporin and was gonna put this on it and then put a sock on her foot. Is this ok? Should i take her to the vet? Its just so small I think i can take care of it myself.

Likely, it is called a lick granuloma. It is from boredomor stressthey do it to have something to do, see if giving her something else to chew on will help. Also, if it is rashy, the oily neosporin may make it hotter. I think Zoe has some advice on this.

Sydney, My freak dog Zoe doesn't lick but she chews on herself.  I always use neosporin and than I put some of the surgical gauze and the waterproof tape over it.  Tucker did lick one of his paws until it turned red one day and the hair came out.  I did the same for him.  I used neosporin and the gauze and tape.  The next day it was fine.

It could be stress, but for the last month i have been taking her out all the time and i started taking her to the og park agian. I had stopped b/c i tohught she was getting agressive, and she use to never go on walks. I thought this past month would make her less stressed since she is more active and i take her out everyday. I think this licking started when i chnged her food, but i sure hope its not that, id rather it be stress. The food she is on is Wellness lite, and she is doing so great on it!

Thanks everyone!

I would just keep an eye on her....it could be an allergy especially since it started after switching foods. If their is corn, wheat or soy in the food, those are the most common allergy products. I would wrap it for now and hopefully you can keep her from tearing off the wrapings. If she start on the other feet and the base of the tail...I'd suspect an allergy.
