I just wanted to tell everyone that I will no longer be posting on this board, or well, any board for that matter. After discussing everything with my fiancee' we have decided that when people start threatening other people, (even with comp. viruses)it is time to quit. I hope I haven't pissed off anyone that bad but I just don't want to take that chance. We have found that numerous attempts on hacking have occured since I joined these forums as well as critical viruses that were quarentined but regardless they could have gotten into my computer. Many of them came from these forums. We had over 115 possible critical virus threats on my computer last night. (Luckily, our security system is very good and will let us know when ANYTHING is trying to get in)
I enjoyed the forum and many members on here. Too much bad stuff has been happening on all of these boards and when it comes to personal safety as well as everything important that I have on my computer, it is not worth the risk. Besides that, I have alot of things I could be doing other than defending people on here. Regardless of all that, I hope you understand why I am doing this. And I hope you all be careful about who you talk to and be careful about what information you do give out.
To all of the people on TP, You have a great site and I hope that things settle down for you and everyone grows up a little and you can all get back to what everyone got on here to do in the first place........talk about PETS.
Thanks for the good times, the laughs and oddly enough even the bad times. I have learned alot about pets as well as about people......namely, you never know who you can trust. Take care all of you............
KPD I am sorry to see you go. I always liked reading your posts. I know others have mentioned they had viruse attempts coming from the forums too. I have had 5 so far since all this blew up. I really need to run a complete scan of everything to be sure none got in though that I missed. My computer keeps rebooting on it's own.

I respect your decision but think it is peculiar that you are more afraid of a "virus" that you can pick up at many different websites than about someone posting personal information just to be vindictive...oh well.... everyone thinks differently.

Jawlaw, honestly, I don't care about my REAL personal information being posted anywhere because I have nothing to hide. And I have not done anything wrong to anyone. I am not afraid of the viruses that can be gotten on my computer but if I know of a site that I KNOW is putting them on then of course, I am going to leave that site......wouldn't you?

Katz, I'm on at least 7 different pet forums that I can think of right now. I may have even talked with you on some Some may say I need to get a life, but I do it for rescue leads and personal info. If it wasn't for Auspet I would have a 120 gal fish tank full of dead cichlids and a unhappy red ear slider turtle and a soft plate turtle and a couple of alligator snapping turtles starving to death. When I got my pitbulls, I got most of my training tips from pet forums.
Point being, knock on wood, I've never been hit with a virus. I wouldn't let the current events of computer terrorism keep you from doing something that you enjoy. Granted there are sites and emails that can infect you, but that holds for all that have internet service. A couple of weeks ago, on my own stupidity, gave up a lot of information on a phishing scam. It was some company posing as my IPS.
Life is too short to live in fear and not to be able to do the little things that we like. Would I jump from a perfectly good airplane with a parachute? Probably not because it would scare the heck out of me. Will I continue talking on pet forums, yeah because the repercussions would be a lot less painful.
Also,with all this talk about personal info on the internet, I googled myself. and found myself incredibly boring.
I googled me, and i am just as boring if not more than you. LOL I did find that my sons grandfather has a hotel in American Samoa, and one of their cousins is up supposedly for a scholarship, and their uncle won some volleyball tournament about 1997. LOL
My leaving this site as well as others has nothing to do with recent events. You get virus threats put on your computer just by surfing. I get them from being on here. Do a Ad-Aware Scan and see how many you come up with. Any site with pop ups or links of any kind can give you these potential viruses. I get alot from here.
That sounds so innocent and sweet. Just go to the google homepage and put in your name. LOL I did and nothing came up, but dates. and other people with the same last name.

Ok an adaware scan does not tell you if you have a virus. That is what your anti virus does. Not a single virus of the 11 I found on mine today came from here or anything associated with here. Most of them came from my husband going click, click, click all dard day long.
You say you have gotten viruses from this site? How do you know they were from this site?
