I found a dog. Its a brindle pit bull and probably about 4 or 5 months old. Very sweet. And its the same dog that I found yesterday that the owners drove around the corner and picked up. Well, yesterday he had a black collar on and today he has no collar on. He was in my alley when I was taking trash out and he followed me into the yard. I tried to put him back in the alley but he just sat at the gate looking all sad. So I put him back inthe yard with some water and as of right now he is still there. I called the Animal Reclaim center and Humane Society to see if anyone reported their dog missing but no luck. They took my information but I really don't think they will be calling back. Brad is going to kill me when he gets home and I am afraid Oscar will try to fit. Oscar doesn't like intact males. I have a few family members that love the pit bull breed. But I don't know what to do. What would y'all do?
Put him on a leash and take him for a walk, letting him take the lead. Maybe he will head toward home. And give those people a lecture when you find them!
I agree with Daisy, except the part about the lecture. It is real easy for dog's to get out while owners are at work. Put a sign out, they will likely come after the dog and maybe they will give you a small reward. If he had a collar yesterday, it is likely caught on the fence where he got out, or on the chain... Maybe suggest that they crate the dog inside the house when they are at work...A real large cage with a water lixit and drip catch, under bottle will keep the dog fine for hours... A lot of people do not know what to do. Cages are $100. from Dr. Foster and Smith catalog, with $10 shipping charge.
I just thinkits strange that his collar came off. Mainly because it was fit pretty tight and there is no way it would have sliped over his head. He is very sweet. And there is no way I can keep him here overnight too because of Oscar. My moms boyfriend is going to come pick him up later and try to find his home. I know not to call Animal Control because they will put him down in 3 days if no home is found and because its a pit. He has food and plenty of water out back so he is pretty happy right now. Anytime I come in the hosue he sits at the door whining. I just wish I could find his home, but if not I can find him a good home. And tell whoever takes him that if I see an ad or poster for him he will have to give the dog back. Plus if I do rehome him I will know the person.
I say take him for a walk, see if anyone is looking for him. If he has got out more than once then they are not keeping him confinded very well. APBT's have a bad enough rap as it is now, Pit owners need to be responceable, these people are not. If they knew he got out the should have fixed the problem.
I hate to be so harsh but I feel very strongly about people that own Pits and do not keep them proplery confinded. I say if you have someone that can take him, take very good care of him and give him a loving home go for it. If you do find the owners try and explain to them that keeping a APBT confinded is very important. Haveing a APBT loose or where they can get out easy is not a good thing can or may cause another bad story.
Well I tried the leash thing and he just didn't go anywhere and stayed by my side. He even played ball with me. So I know he is someones dog. I had someone that knew about dogs come look at him and the said that he was a rednosed. Sorry, I really don't know what that means. I just know Danes. He also has very large feet. I mean HUGE!! Oh well. Don't know what to do now.
