I was cooking dinner and my son yelled up to me "Should Cat Hunting be Legal?" I said "What???? No!" I didn't have a clue what he was talking about. I guess it was on the news here, then I come here and see this posted about it too. Weird. But I haven't read the whole story so I am not sure what they are getting at. I will look at it, but it doesn't sound good.
I don't think it should be legal. They said that some people against hunting say to trap the feral cats and spay or neuter them. I agree. Very few states have laws protecting cats and that sucks (including Arizona). I mean, what's next? Dog hunting? Cats are not true wild animals. They did not become domestic. Skunks, foxes, coyotes..etc. have always been wild. They said MN allows cat hunting if the cat is not tame and has no tags but.....what if the cat is scared of strangers and what if a cat has tags but from a distance, a hunter couldn't tell that? Why would someone want to hunt cats anyway? Not for food i'm sure but just for sport. JMO but i am against hunting anyway unless in extreme situations like if someone was starving to death. I am not a vegitarian and i hate that i love meat so much but at least the cows are bred for meat and not just to kill for fun. I am apalled that people would even consider hunting cats.
Awww...I don't know....seems heartless and cruel to me. I know they have a problem, but surely some other way could help. I know up in Cleveland they have sharp shooters out to kill the deer population down. They are doing it in neighborhoods and there was a big stick about it. I understand that to some degree the deer aren't quite the same as cats, but I personally have a hard time thinking of killing anything. I know there are some heavy debates about this subject, not trying to start one of those. I am just too soft hearted.
speaking of cats....about a month ago we had a stray take up residence here. She had 3 kittens yesterdayThey are so precious.I think we are keeping the mama cat,so I'll be getting her spayed as soon as she is done nusring the kittens.I went to petmart to get some better food for her, since she is nursing. They said you feed nursing mom kitten food. They need it to pass the nutrition on to their kittens.I would have never guessed that one. But as far as hunting cats, the is one of the most horrible things I have ever heard of.
i saw this on the news here last night. I think if they just cought the cats and spay or neutered them before they were released back out there would be less of a problem. Dallas has a ferel cat spay/neutre program that seems to be working.
I dont agree with shooting any stray cat they see, it could easily be some little girls pet
i have never heard of any thing so barbaric..I have mixed feelings about traping and all that..a lady in our area who splintered off from the main one who founded a Humane Society in our area traps cats..sure some are ferel..and fixing them is a good thing..but they could just as well be some ones pets who are out too..and they get spirited off...that i dont agree with. I would like it if they were just fixed..but I have cought a few kittens that were freezing and starving by me..and no shelters would take them..so I had to take them to he dog pound..Better then starving and freezing..some had already died by the time i got to them...cats are a problem in the rural areas..many think that barn cats have a good life..they do not..many dump cats off on dirt roads like mine..and they have horrable lives...I dont no what the answer is..I just would not be one to shoot them..
LOL, Kitty, you're hilarious!! Yes, deer does taste good. I don't mind hunting because deer are a huge problem here and prolly 80% of people here have hit a deer in the middle of the road AT LEAST once. So deer hunting and pheasant hunting and all that is fine by me. Do not know if I quite agree with cat hunting. Yes, it would be best to live trap them and then spay/neuter them but I don't know if there are a lot of vets around here that are willing to do this for free. It cost me $80 to get Mollie spayed and the same price 1 year later to get Chopper neutered. Think of all the money they'd be out by doing this for free. I don't know, if there are vets out there that are willing to do this, then good.
MPP-you and my hubby should have gotten married. He is, in my opinion, the world's pickiest eater. No fish, or seafood at all, no casseroles or anything with cream soups, sour cream, or cream cheese in them, no things like hamburger helper or rice a roni, only certain vegetables-some of them can only be eaten raw and others can only be eaten cooked, not both, no nuts in baked goods, see, he is the world's pickiest eater and I love all of those things!! This is why I hardly ever cook. I can hardly ever cook something that he'll actually eat. I told him when we have kids, they're gonna eat it, whether they want to or not. lol.
