For the first time I used....

the special shampoo for white dogs on Winter and Storm. They are always really white but Winter tends to get a lil "dingy" white in the spring\summer with all the rains. OMG they are like glow in the dark now. It made them white white! I love it! I love the smell too!

Anyways just thought I'd share my excitement for the night!

I've often wondered if they work well.  Now maybe I'll try the one for black dogs to see if it works wonders on Farley!

I bought the el cheapo Hertz it's called Groomers Best Whitener Shampoo. I didn't know how well it worked so I wasn't going to spend alot of money, I got it at Wal Mart for 2 something. The only thing that sucks about it, it's Royal Blue in color, getting that off of a white dogs is challenging. But it does work well, next time I think I fork up a lil more cash and get a better brand.

Actually, the blue color is what worked for you. I am going to look for some of that...For many years, I recommended the Hartz blue colored puppy shampoo for all my pup buyers, until they changed it's color. Then I searched the pet store, and found one bottle of blue shampoo that was whitening. I would rather use the Hartz brand, it soaped real well...If the color is hard to wash out, at least it is an indicator for getting it all rinsed out and not leaving soap on the dog to cause itching
When I was a kid, my friend had a white horse that had a tail that tended to yellow. We used old fashioned laundry blueing on the horse's tail to get it white. That is why I say to use blue shampoo.
In my own hair, I use Henna. It makes your hair green, unless you blend it with red and brown[hibiscus tea and coffee] then your hair is brown, red counters green...

I found a recipe for home made whitening shampoo that I use on Chloe' and it works great. I'll search for it and post it if anyone wants to make their own.

I found it so here it is:
50% liquid Woolite and 50% human hair peroxide (20 or 40 volume), add a little conditioning shampoo. Shampoo this mixture into the stained portion of the coat and let remain for 3 to 5 minutes. Wash out and shampoo and condition as normal. Can be used as over all shampoo.

I made up the shampoo, and it seemed to work great. I didn't have any problems with it and I even added some blueing Mrs Stewarts I think it was. If you plan on making it, make sure you use the cream peroxide. You can get the clear which is like water...so the shampoo is really watery. I now have a beautiful white fluffy dog.
