About a month or so ago i switched all my girls over to Wellness brand dog food. I loved it until i noticed Syd started getting hives. She was eating Wellness in the dark green bag, i believe lamb is the first ingrediant, so i switched her back to natural choice and she stoped getting hives. Winnie was eating Wellness light in the purple bag and she started getting hives and licking the fur off her paws. Lana is the only one who had no problem with Wellness. Anyone else experiance any problems with Wellness?
I'm trying to find a food that i can have all 3 of them on, or at least 2 of them. I just bought a bag of Natural Balance, so far they are fine, but i just got it and im switching them slowly so i wont know how it really works for a couple weeks.
Natural Balance is good. I just got California Natural and it is great so far.....no allergies. It only has 4 ingredients (lamb meal, brown rice, rice and sunflower oil) and it's specially for dogs with allergies. It's not outragous in price but not cheap either.
It can be so frustrating finding a food that doesn't bother our furpals. Even the top of the line, high quality foods can cause a problem with some dogs. About 3 mos ago I switched my 2 over the Blue Buffalo Lamb & Brown Rice (it has no wheat, corn or chicken) and I have seen a great improvement in Farley as he's the one who has the allergy problems. I know it is available at PetSmart. Here's their website if you want to check it out.
I have two on NAtural balance and Lilly is trying Wellness now. Soon as we finish that small bag I have to try something else. I was thinking Calif. Natural. But when I tried sasha with a sample bag she took her time sniffed it then grudgingly ate it. Have any of you heard of Merrick, I got samples yesterday. Also what do you think of Eagle pack(pak)?
Chopper has food allergies, like to certain proteins. He get's skin lesions that itch all over his body. Expensive pills to treat. I got him Science Diet Sensitive Skin and haven't seen any of those patches for over a year now.
Oscar has allergies too. He is on Diamond Lamb and Rice. Only decent food I can find around here. Sometimes I think I would like to try RAW but that probably won't happen.
I was tempted to try Evo, but even for a dog with allergies, it has chicken and turkey I beleive, don't they say lamb is better for allergy sufferers, well at least some. I went to get a bag of the blue buff stuff today, boy was I mad when I got nearly home and realized I grabbed the senior bag not puppy, had to drive all the way back.. So I am mixing it in with her Wellness now.
