Cats behavior after spaying.........HELP!

Some of you may remember Sk.....our cat whom we thought was spayed, but had 1 little kitten a few months ago.....which passed away.

After consulting with our vet, we decided to have her spayed (whether for the 1st or second time) when we had Ivan done.  This took place 2 weeks ago.  It was her first spay, BTW.  How we survived as long as we did with no kittens was beyond me.

Anyway, since she has been home her behavior has been off the hook.  Our other 2 cats who she couldn't stand in the past are now like kittens to her.  They are both much bigger than Sk, but she still licks them like a mother cat would bathe her kittens.....but more importantly, she bites them on the neck and drags them around......just like mother cats do.  it's really something to see her doing this with cats that are twice her size.  Soemtimes it hurts them and they growl and slap at her to break free.....but its like she can't take the hint and she goes right back and does it again.  One of the cats, Mousey,  eventually gave up and just lets SK drag her around everywhere.

Now, SK has to be everywhere that Mousey is.  She even lays on top of Mousey when they sleep.  She 'sings' and 'purrs' to Mousey all freakin day.  And God forbid if one of the dogs comes around Mousey........SK goes nuts.  She use to just run off and ignore the dogs......now she attacks them if they are within 10 feet of Mousey.  SK and Ivan have had several 'rounds'.  Ivan doesn't try to hurt her though......he thinks she is playing I guess because he is just a wagging his tail and whining....wanting to play......all while this cat is spazzing on him at 90 miles per hour.  I've never seen SK move as fast as she does with Ivan. I think she sprouts wings or something.  As bad  as I hate to say it..............it's quite funny to see this long skinny cat with all four legs out-spread.........flying at Ivan from every angle she can.........and Ivan is just standing there with this dumb look on his face like she is moving so fast he can't even see her.  We try to keep them separate as much as possible.

What has made her change like this?  I can't take it.  Mousey is getting all of the attention that I use to get and it's driving me crazy......my cat is my baby......but now she has found her own baby.......and I've seriously considered trying to re-home Mousey because of this.  Ok....I wouldn't really do that......but dang.....I can't keep seeing this mother/baby thing.  It's like SK has went back in time and she thinks she has a kitten to take care of.  All of this happened once she got spayed.

Please tell me this will STOP!

AWWW!! I bet she misses her kitten and is now trying to make Mousey her kitten. Like a replacement or like the kitten never died. I've heard of stuff like this happening. I've heard of a dog having a phantom pregnancy and thinking that the cordless phones of the house were her puppies. I think it's the same thing here, 'cept it's actually a living animal that she's adopted. I don't know when or if she'll stop but I think that's why it's happening. She wants to be a mom and maybe she knows you had her fixed and now she can't be a mom.

Aww that is so sad! I think Mollie is probably right... she is acting out her motherly instincts...

Yep, just hormones.  It takes a while for her hormones to back off.  Just give her time.   Poor baby, she's gonna be just fine

Awww...poor baby wants to be a Mommy so bad!!  Sweet of little Mousey to be patient with her :)

Man those hormones can play some wicked tricks...that's why I feel sorry for men having to live with us most of the time!!   Notice I said MOST of the time...our boys have their issues too!
