What do you do if your dog breaks out from flea meds?? Pits' dog, Dillon, breaks out and loses hair from the flea collars, topical meds, and vomits from orals. What should she do?? She's talked to her vet about it and he has no clue, except to find some sort of all-natural, herbal stuff, which she hasn't found yet. Anyone have any ideas for her?? I'm only posting this as a favor to her, since she's on dial-up now and it takes forever. Thanks!!
I use a shampoo called De Flea on my dogs that is all natural and I love the way it makes them feel and smell. However, I also use revolution, so I can't vouch for how it works on fleas. If it does work well for fleas, it may be a good choice since there are no chemicals in it. What do you use for the other dogs and cats? Some of the topical flea stuff that you get at the store has caused reactions on my pets also, but Frontline, Advantage, and Revolution have never caused a problem. I realize that with the huge number of pets you have that these may just not be economical. Maybe you could use one of those just for Dillon (if you haven't tried them on him) and continue to use whatever you are using now on the others.
Someone recommended it a long time ago on TP and I want to think it was Kitty's Mom. If it was her, she might be able to tell you if it works well for fleas.
Thanks, Shiny. And I'm sure Pits thanks you too!! She told me she uses Frontline on all of them, has tried dipping, flea shampoo, collars, orals, and topicals all on Dillon and he is allergic to it all!! So, she has been doing the vet meds. She's just kind of distraught right now about it. Said she's given him a dip in the flea dip and rinsed him for an hour and he still broke out from it. I suggested maybe asking her vet about a pill that would soothe the breakouts and a sensitive skin diet. That's what I have Chopper on right now- Sensitive Skin food. He broke out from protein that he was allergic to though, so I don't know if that would help??
