I'm new here. I had a puppy named Mason for 40 days that had to be PTS because of distemper. We purchased him from Anna's Pet in Norwalk. (no need to lecture me on the Pet Store logic, as I am now well aware). Anyway I finally have a new puppy and his name is Chason (Chance+Mason). Anywho, wanted to use Masonsmom as I already use this name on several forums. Look forward to getting advise and giving advise (when I can.) HUGS !!
Welcome Mason! Glad to have you on board! Feel free to chat about anything here. We are not limited to just pet talk. We always enjoy pics here.....so keep them coming!
Welcome! Glad to have you here...and don't worry, we will not bash you for things here. You do not have to tiptoe around in fear of being bashed or banned.
Mason...I remember the Anna thread..I am so sorry that you and so many others have gotten screwed by that person..I hope that you have some recorse with her..I Hope she is gone for good..But..the bad apples seem to end up back into breeding and doing bad things...Look for her again...Im sorry to say...But..Im glad that you and the other victums have spread the word and it may have saved another from the same pain and aggravation you went through...Best of luck to you and yours...
Chason is also a maltipoo (yes, my glorified mutt)..but I just had to have another one. I got him from a friend's breeder in Texas. He is very cute, but caught the good ole kennel cough on route from Texas to California..but he is just so lively compared to my Mason. Now I know how sick he really was.
To any of you who are aware of what transpired with some folks on TP...here's an update. We have had 2 protests in front of Anna's and last week they raided her shop and home. The anuthorities say they are actively collecting more evidence. Through TP I found some life long friends that all have the same thing in common..sick or dead dogs. But I will not return to the site. Although I was only there for a short time I learned quickly never to question a moderator...because you will quickly be put on the naughty list. I think for CM it is do as I say and not as I do, and for that I simply do not respect her. I'm sure she will track me down here...because she has found me and bashed me for "hijacking" her site for my Close Anna Pet cause...which is so not true. Also I see that this site is not clique'ish like TP. Already I feel sooooo welcomed. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Here's a little bit more about me. I'm 30, been married to a wonderful man for 5yrs. We have no children. Basically have spent the last 8 yrs building our careers, and now we are talking about children. We got a puppy in Jan to practice parenting...and bam we suffered a horrible tragedy with Mason. I am a good person and would love any advice you can lend. I will give it when I can...but I'm pretty limited on expertise since Mason was my first animal ever.
You know the Anna maltipoo I saw last weekend at the Redondo beach dog park did not really seem to me as frisky as a 4 month old pup should be. It had had upper resperatory problems thus far. But my pup was really active at that time, even when she did not want to be down with other dogs she was jumping up and down. I just think that with that pup something did not seem right. She was slow. I hope I'm wrong. I am so glad you got a new healthy pup. Even the best of dogs can come up with kennel cough. Do you have her on anti-biotics? That is the route I went with my two rescues who gracously shared it. It is very cantagiuos so keep her away from other dogs till she's better. Its pretty much the equivalent to a human cold. My older poodle also caught it a second time from a dog at the vet. LAdy came in with her dog to check a suture on her dog, and I heard her say oh, and my dog is coughing and I don't know why. I think thats where she got it casue she was not around any others. That was a bad one, after two days, she awoke on the couch with me every hour or so coughing badly. LAst time before we got up (sunday morning of course) she had gotten so stressed she had a mild seizure. This is my rescued poodle. Who on occasion has a seizure.
You just take care of that little bundle of cuteness.
Mason- I am glad you found us. You are right about the mods at tp. You cannot disagree with them or their friends, or they will completely write you off and quite possibly ban you.
You will not have to worry about those things here. Ansy is so fair and will not put up with their craziness.
I am sure you saw my name over there. They bash me all the time...lol
I have 2 dogs and a cat. One is a miniature schnauzer and one is a min. schnauzer/poodle mix.
Chason is was on Clavamox but the vet just (I just walked in the house) and switched him to cefadrops since he wasn't responding to the clavamox. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't pneumonia so they ran some xrays, and blood work. And $200 later me and the hyper dog jump in the car.
You mention the lady you saw at the park with one of Anna's dogs....you know you are probably right (I hope not though)...they first thought Mason had UR issues then they thought it was a shunt...and low and behold...distemper. Chason is 4 months old...and let me tell you he is a firecracker. We have a 3 story house, and if I'm up in my bedroom and Chason is way downstairs in the gameroom with my husband...all of a sudden he gets this urge to come and find me and he's up 14 stairs, through the kitchen and family room, and up another 18 stairs to find me in a wink of an eye. It is sooooooo funny to watch. He goes to my Grandma's for daycare and he steals her shoes out of her closets like a true puppy. Now I know what a puppy should be like. Mason was sooooo calm and would sleep soundly as long as I needed him to. He would play, then get tired so fast. I miss him so much, and I know you understand why I feel so passionately about getting Anna shut down. At the protest this past Saturday, I looked her square in the eye and told her she will not get away with this. I will see that justice is served.
Have you got the results back yet M.M. ? Its worth every penny to have the peace of mind. Thats always what I end up doing, because I can't stand wondering.
