Thanks! I enjoyed looking at your pics. Some of the ones in the second link actually made me tear up a little bit. I sure appreciate our military and their families too.
You are an excellent example of the strength behind our men in the USN today. Strong, loyal and caring wives, who constantly step up and take on dual roles as head of house hold through long deployments, have my total respect. I am in the Navy, and I see it every day.
I salute you! And all the other military wives out there, for standing by your men, and being there to support them while serving this great country!
~Amanda
(and to you husbands who do the same for your military wives!!)
Being appriciated makes this job much easier! Not many spouses can handle be a military spouse but I'm glad I stuck through it (considering I got married at 17 ) It seems like a lifetime since he joined the Navy but it's only been 12 yrs. Only 8? more to go? hehe I lived in the same house my whole live so it sure has been an adventure but I would have never gotten out of my home town or been so many nice places had it not been for the Navy. Ofcourse I appriciate my kids putting up with all the moves too!
LOL shiny you sound like my sister. His last deployment 2 yrs ago I made a powerpoint presentation for him with music and pictures and my sister started bawling. Thank goodness for mental stability LOL Some of these women here who husbands are in the Army are gone for a year at a time .. I don't think I could handle that. I feel safer my hubby is on a submarine and for only 6 months.
I said to hubby one day. You know by the time you get out I will have raised these boys by myself (they'll be 19&18) He said yeah I know, you never thought that before? but it really never crossed my mind. Luckily Taylor will only be 12 and such a daddys girl anyway so that'll be nice. Hopefully the boys will go to a local college and stay athome for awhile after he's out.. hehe we can always dream.
Beautiful pictures, what a cute little patriotic dress your little girl is wearing too. Good greif you guys are making me feel sad for Nikki and her kids. The welcome home sign.
Hehe thanks puttin, It better be cute I paid $75 for it!!! Don't feel bad, it's the life we choose. It has it's upside and just think how many other jobs can you retire at 40?
LMAO, Nikki. I did just fine today. Got to bed by 1, then got up at 4, then went to bed at 5:30, then got up at 9. I at least did get some sleep!! lol.
Nikki I have little emotional stability when it comes to patriotism. The following is a true story, and anyone who laughs gets a big thump on the head from me LOL ...
I went to a rodeo, not something I would normally do, but my parents are very into their horses, which they had wanted all their lives and finally aquired in their "golden years." At the end, they played "I'm proud to be an American" and saluted our troops. All the horses and the beautiful cowgirls circled the arena, carrying an American flag, and my emotional self teared up. It was embarrassing since I was there with my parents. I couldn't explain it except to say that it is unfathomable what our troops do for us, and since I had kids I tend to not be able to hold those emotions in!
You know, Shiny, we are so much alike, it is sick!! LOL. I get the very same way whenever I hear ANY patriotic song. You should see me on July 4th, while we're watching fireworks over at the Lakes and they're playing all sorts of patriotic music on the radio and on the loudspeakers. My mom used to listen to that song "Proud to be an American" all the time and I've always had memories of it from when I was little and when my uncle was in Desert Storm, walking the fields for land mines and all. Now it has all new meaning to me........there were several guys from my graduating class that went into the military right after high school. One even missed graduation because he'd already enlisted in the Air Force, so his mom, who was also a teacher, went up and got his diploma for him. One of the guys is one of my good guy friends and he's in the Marines and over in Iraq now, fighting for us. I'm very proud to know him!! And I hope he has a safe return home, whenever that may be.
Are ya in a crying mood?? LOL I have a video from has last homecoming where there was a live band singing proud to be an american as the boat pulled in. That time they actually got back from an extended deployment which was 7 months long and they had just left the war. It's was a very cool homecoming with the tug spraying water, spinning in a circle and sounding it's horn. I always say I must be a cold heart beoch because I never cry at real things I just cry on corney a$$ movies. Oh and the mantal stability thing was about my sister, everytime I tell her something about his being gone or what not she freaks out. I always say its his job so we have no choice no point in making a fuss over it.
LOL i just had to chime in on this one! I am an army wife and i cry over patriotic stuff too! LOL Not everytime but i get choked up. not to mention corny a$$ movies too LOL
Aww, thanks for sharing your pics. what adorable children you have! wow, being a military wife, im not sure if i would be able to do that, props to you for being able to!
