Wierd I know

I hope nobody takes offense to this,I have a thing about tails, dog tails that is!!! I don't too much like them.My shadow has his tail docked.I have been looking for a dog , but that is one of the things im looking for in him/her along with other things. Now the tail thing isn't at the top of my list but I would prefer a docked tail..Is this something that has to be done at a young age????

LOL, its your perogative to like them or not. Docked tails do look pretty darn cute wagging. Yep they need to be docked at around 3 days old. If older the nerves grow and make it much more painful to be done.

french bulldogs are born with stumps. no docking required. and they are excellent companions. i dont know how i have lived this long without one....lol

Oh, ok thanks Puttin. The reason I ask is there was two dogs in the paper today. The ad said male yorkie and a schnauzer male mixed.100 for both.I called and left a message this morning the called me back about an hour ago.Well I go look at them,at they just wasn't right for me.They looked the same except coloring. The son is the one that called me back and said I could come look at them, turns out they lived 2 streets over.I think thats strange in  itself that you would let your son sell the dogs to just whoever. He didn't know anything about them ,other than age. They were also outside dogs,Is it hard to convert them over to being inside dogs?

I love docked tails too...I have one sheperd that clears the coffee table every chance she gets..I cant stand that..we have to hold the coffee cup to make sure it doesnt get dumped. I love english bulldogs..and since I found all the health issues i am really falling in love with the frenchie...I wonder...do they have the health issues that the english do? I just love the little tails..Let me know what your reacher has shown. on them...Shadow..as for a good dog with a docked tail...what about mini schnauzers? Just cuz im biased is why i bring them up...lol...take care all...

I'm not certain on the yard house conversion thing. I often have wondered if Sasha were thrown into the yard to live, being she looked sooooo bad when happening upon the shelter. She's been a good girl potty wise. Other than a few times trying to show Lilly whats hers. LOL

From my experience I suggest that when you get him a "friend," get a female. Of course then one or the other has to be spayed or neutered (don't know if Shadow is already neutered or not). But 2 males in the same home can end up very difficult and expensive.

oh how cute!!!   When we went to the pound to get our first dog, I made it clear NO BIG DOGS!!!  I didn't want the tail to destroy my glassware!!  lol   But there was Rock! Big ole lug. But his tail had been docked....not sure why, but it was, so I gave in and said ok!  lol I love seeing that little stump wag!

Oscars tail can be dangerous sometimes. Sometimes I wish he didn't have one. Like when the Xmas tree is up. He has broke a few ornaments with his tail. Have you thought about a boston terrier. Or if you want to go medium, get a boxer.

shadow: rocky is 6 months old and anastasia(annie) is 3 months old

huron: i didnt say they were different as far as color. they are different in temperment. rocky is laid back and annie is hell on wheels.

we considered a boston before we got our frenchies, but we were not real keen on the color . quinn and i both liked the look of alot of the mastiffs, bull mastiffs and danes. the ones that were fawn or red with the black faces. but they were all too big.we wanted a small breed . i was watching the westminster dog show a couple years back and when i saw the french bulldog come out. i looked at quinn and said theres our next dog.he fell in love too . so we did alot of research and saw that they had black masked reds and started our search. rocky came from a breeder in missouri and annie from a breeder in russia. they are comical. cuddly, lovable (especially with kids) playful and always giving kisses (must be the french in them). i have never had a dog like them before .we are thinking of getting another in a few months. we are just so hooked on this breed. i see why they call french bulldogs "little clowns"
