Me next!! Me next!! I was born in Spirit Lake, IA, but lived in Estherville, IA till present. I lived in one house, till I got married in June, 2003, at the age of 19. I then moved in with my hubby, Brad, about 1 1/2 blocks away from where I grew up with my parents. Brad and I have since gotten a new house and moved here on May 14, 2005. Brad is now, (3 weeks after moving into the new house) considering going into the Army. Any comments about that are completely welcome, I would like to know as much about being an Army/military wife as possible. WOW!! I've had a boring life!!
*forgot to add, we never got to go on a honeymoon yet, so we're in DESPERATE need of a vacation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well....I'm 22, was born in Wichita, KS. Raised in haysville.  I have 3 sisters (but no brothers)  Married my husband Feb. 18 2004 (after 10 years of admiring and pestering)  he is the brother of a girlfriend I had growing up.  Hubby spent the first year of our marriage in Korea, came home and currently we're in Georgia getting ready to move in a week and a half up to Maryland (unless we actually get paper orders for somewhere else)

Mollie:  I've been a military spouse for I guess a year and a half now?  My exp. is quite different from many other peoples.  Army life is rough.  My husband is taking classes right now for his "army career"  (even though he's definately getting out at the end of his term)  He gets up in the morning for Physical Training M-F around 7 (PT for his shift is from 8:30-9:30ish)  he comes home takes a nap sometimes and then has a formation at 3, so leaves about 2:30, has class after formation and doesn't get home till about 11.   I have a few friends who's husbands are air force that the schedule for them wasn't QUITE as bad, but it's still rough.  Because of the way my husband and I got married I didn't have a Point of Contact, someone to help me figure out the "joys and sorrows" of being military

I will say everyone's experience is different.  We are waiting on starting a family until closer to the end of his term because in his career he won't have much time for family.  We're expecting him to have a shift of 12 hour days, 3 days on 3 off 2 on 2 off.  (in some ways I guess similar to firemen )  It takes a lot of team work to be a military family.  (although the health benefits are great!!!)

Mollie, my mother was a military child growing up and she had a hard life. She went to so many schools around the US she never really had friends. As soon as she would make one friend they would have to pack up and leave. I know I wouldn't want to live like that. But I'm sure many other kids have had great experiances with it.

I am the opposite Oasis. I have been in every state on the east coast and never been further west than ohio except hawaii :) I am 29 yrs old, married for 12 yrs in August, have never worked a day in my life. (ok mcdonalds for one month when I was 17) I lived in Erie, PA my whole life in the same house (parents still live there now). Then I married a navy man and we have lived in FL, NY, VA, ME, NY, CT & HI in the past 12 yrs. I have 3 kids (Terrence) Terry III 11 yrs old, Christopher 10 yrs next month, and Taylor 4 yrs old.

edited to add: Being a military wife isn't so bad but I know only certain people can handle it. My sister could never. We live in Army housing and the big hospital here is army. I have talked to those ladies and their DH's are gone a year at a time, come back for a little while and leave again. My husband is gone the most 6 months, can be extended but usually not much longer than that. I would suggest if he is considering a military career to choose Boomer submarines which is 3 months gone, 3 months home. The best part about being here in hawaii is the COLA (cost of living allowence) we get almost $650 a month for being here. Good luck if you choose to join. The first few years your always poor as dirt and wonder why you joined but once you're in for awhile the money is pretty nice.

Mollie...just my 2 cents on military living..I met my hubby just after her retired...he was 39...He had 2 failed marrages and a list of health issues a mile long. He is a PT fanatic..20 years of doing something will do that to you though...and the benifit was when i saw that washboard stomach...man...he knocked my socks off...lol..But military stuff brainwashed in your head is hard to get over..I mentioned his other marrages..and sure the divorce rate is high every where..but if your gone for the most part it is hard to work on a marrage if your not there. And heaven forbid if one or the other is unfaithful while alone..the trust might never be repaired. My hubby was subjected to so many things he will never actually know the cause of some of his ailments..In the Persain Golf war he was subjected to un regulated mediacations for nerve agent attacks..God only knows what that will or has done so far..Also all the training in different gasses...his nose runs almost constantly now..But the worst is the night mares..I wake up to him having terrors all the time..He has talked to me and called me his gunner before..and talked of killing and beheading. and the worst was retriving fellow solders from frendly fire.....and just so your aware they have no cure for post tramatic stress disorder..But in the 4 years we have gotten together i still cant break him of saying We do things this way or we do this..I have to remind him WE DO NOT>>>you did in the Army...On the plus side..he is out retired and living a good life now and he got out at 38...plenty of life to live and enjoy after the military...I know no one can make decisions for you and your hubby...but military life is very hard on all involved..it can strenghen what you have or break it..I wish you only the best...

 ummm..where do i begin ~~

Ive been with Michael for nearly 2 years and we moved in together after 6 months...i wasn't looking for love before i met him but oh my god i found Mr Right ...soppy i know but now i know what love is and how great it is..God do i love him . He is 24 and from cape town South africa and grew up with a very strong christian background which is something i was never raised with and considered but it has changed my life and made me a stronger person since having a faith and Michael.

We had our first child our Dobermann Harvey (lol) on 25 November 2004 and it has been an emotional but worthwhile rollercoaster of a ride as he was abused and needed a huge amount of work.. we got there in the end and he is so precious to me and Michael life wouldn't be the same without him in our lives..

We are planning on getting married in the future but it will only be a small wedding in cape town..

Im a trained child care worker and worked in childacare for 6 years but i am taking a career break after an illness and learning to drive

Once i am driving i want to work with animals hopefully as help at a dog and cat re-homing centre..could be a big mistake though as i have a huge soft spot for animals in need of love ~ as i have alot to give!

Im blonde  and short and with a hatred for my transparent skin as it is sooooo pale but summers here so i better start the fake tanning see ya !!

Twinkle... I used to have the transparent skin too. I would have sweared that my socks had a better than then me. My friends used to call me a blue blood. LOL!!! But now I am dark but not too dark. And I love being able to wear shorts again. It has taken me only two months of going three times a week to a tanning bed.

And Nikki.... I am 23 and the first job I ever had was a year ago. Its nice being able to get out of this hectic house during the day. But all my friends used to tell me how lazt I was for not working, and I just told them to take care of a child and see just how hard it is.

I am 26, my birthday is August 4th. I was born in New York, but that was by accident. My mom lived in Los Angeles and wanted to visit cousins in New York, so she flew there agianst doctors orders, got sick and had to stay there until she gave birth to me. She then took me back home to California. I have lived here my whole life. I traveled a lot when I was young, I have been to many places, but I have always been incrediably scared of flying and once I had a say in it, I stopped travelling, unless I can drive, or take a train...lol.

I have a sister who is 10 months younger then me. I also had a brother named Marc but he died when he was 5 and when my mom was pregnant with me. She named me after him, sort of. I also have 2 half brothers and a half sister, a step brother and step sister.

I love horses and used to own two but at seperate times. My first horses name was Pattycake, she was a Quarter Horse/Thourghbred cross. I could ride her with no bridle and no saddle, we would ride like that allthe time and do jumps and stuff! My second horse was Joey and I rescued him. He was an ex racer, when he was racing he won every race he was in, he was just getting famous when he fell and broke his shoulder, they then put him out to pasture for 2 years with 2 draft horses who ate all his food, his owners didnt care for him at all, and then i rescued him and nursed him back to health.

I use to work for Starbucks and Jamba Juice, both for two years each, then I went back to school to study Animal Science which I am doing now. I also want to be a dog trainer and possible a horse trainer.

I have had my share of horrible boyfriends and I have finally found one who treats me great! I think he is a keeper, his name is Jason!

So thats me in a nutshell.

Hmm...lets see...My name's Heather, I'm 19 and I was born in KY and I have lived her my whole life with my parents and almost 16 year old brother, Tyler. I have no intentions of leaving, either! I have 2 dogs, a kitten and my bro has a hamster. I graduated in 2004, yay!! I am doing a home study program to become a vet tech/assistant and I will be done in a few months and then I can hopefully get a job, save bunches and move out with my boyfriend. We are about to celebrate our 3 year anniversary in September. We're not engaged, and he's asked me, but we have talked seriously and do want to get married sometime in the next few years. His cousins wife had a baby in January and Matt is her godfather, but I consider her my goddaughter, as well! She is such a joy to be around! Well, that's about it, ha

Hi guys!  I'll go now.  I was born in Knoxville, TN.  I lived there until I was 18 and met my husband he was 24 at the time.  He is from Philadelphia so we moved up to NJ and lived in Princeton for a while.  When I was 19 we got married and at 20 I had my first daughter, Kaitlyn.  At 21 we bought a much larger home and moved to PA just outside of Philly where I am now.  At 24 I had my second daughter, Gillian.  Life was a huge roller coaster ride with her.  She had so many health problems when she was born.  Thank God my husband and I went against what the doctor said or she would be blind in one eye and would have had a liver transplant.  Now she is a very healthy 22 month old, she hasn't had a liver transplant and she isn't blind.  She's a bit developmentally behind but its not that noticeable.  She may always be and she may catch up.  We just have to wait and see.  I am now 26 , I have been married for almost 8 years, I have 2 wonderful children, I have 6 wonderful dogs, and I have the most wonderful husband I could ever ask for.  If there was anything I would want in life at the moment it would be a job.  I have never worked.  As much as I love being here all day with my kids and dogs I would also like to have a life outside of my house for a change.  I'm not pushing the issue until my kids are in school though. (hopefully there will be another child coming within the next year.)  My husband doesn't want me to work.  Maybe I'll talk him into it one day.  I am in school now majoring in Biology.
