I'm not up on my pointers. But I would think if its not a wire haired, then it must have another name. Cause wire mean course hair. I do like the look of those dogs though. My neighbor has one, I think she said she was an English pointer.  that dog is soooo very sweet, never ever evvvverrrrrrrrrrr barks. Did I say never, never. LOL

My father-in-law got a German wirehaird pointer pup in April.  He's going to train it to go-a-huntin with him.

This is the website of the group he belongs to.  not my type of dog, but they are interesting looking.

Hello forbes..and welcome..I tried to respond in the welcome thread but the darn thing would not load enough for me to type..and i even went off and wrote a few emails and it was not done so...that it for that thread in my book...lol..as for pointers..i used to raise and breed Germans Shorthaired Pointers...they are wonderful dogs and i have seen a few wirehaired ones as well..I would stay with a "type" my self and adhear strictly to the breed standard. Unless you just want a pet and its free or something.. we bred to type...but also for the hunting and ability of the nose..and although our best **** was on the smaller side of the standard she was correct in all except for ear set...but when bred to a well correct "typie" male..she bred the best of both worlds in great looking and many field champions in our particular area. I think they are a great dog for sports enthusiast and make fantastic house dogs especiall after they get a bit older...but they do dig a lot..some times to china..and might not be the best dog for every body...so...get out to a few shows and talk to owners who know the breed backwards and forwards...and then you will be able to pick a good one and tell if thats the dog for you..or if you want to go soft coat or not..just my opinion forbes..but as always i say it with a smile..take care forbes and sorry the minpin pooch still isnt home..darn shame...take care..
