Yesterday during the day, I left the girls outside , it was nice and they were playing. I brought them in lastnight for dinner and Sydney didnt eat, I thought to myself "thats odd" cause Syd ALWAYS eats, she didnt even take a bite. Anyways didnt think anything of it though cause she was acting normal. very playful, etc..
Sooo this morning I let the girls outside to do their "thing", and Syd runs to the left. The grass is straight ahead. I think to myself "I wonder where she is going" and agian didnt think much of it, so I made coffee, fed the cats and got the girls food ready, I went outside and I looked to the left and what do i see? My big black trashcan, and laying next to it, tons of trash. The little devil had grabbed a garbage bag and pulled it out of the trashcan and she ate everything she could find!
This is what she ate....1/2 pound raw salmon, a large container of chicken lo mein, other leftover chinese food, coffee, napkins, sushi, and other leftovers.
She ate all of it!!!!! I couldnt believe it!! No wonder she didnt want dinner lastnight, I wouldnt want dinner either after a feast like that! LOL
Luckily lastnight she was fine, she slept with me all night and didnt get sick. Its amazing really, after she ate all the Alieve when she was a puppy she threw up everyday for four months and I was told, she would have a sensitive stomach for the rest of her life! I guess not...lol.
Lol sounds like a meal fit for a king ... My Harvey does that .. he has a fascination with plastic bags an rooting around in them seeing what he can find .. hes made some hellish mounds of mess when we have put the bin bags out ready for collection and carelessly put him out to do his 'buiseness' .. the little devil!
Tucker and Toby were always getting into the trash like that. The trash cans aren't in the fence with them so they've never gotten that much but they did get quite a bit. I no longer have a trash can in the kitchen. I turned my garbage disposal into a trash can. I just put supermarket plastic bags in there. When it's full I take it out to the garage and put it in the big trash out there. That's the only way I can keep them from eating all of it. Between the 6 dogs they get most of our leftovers but the food that's been in the fridge and has gone bad I don't want them to eat. However, a couple of weeks ago Tucker had been having a bit of diarreah (sp?) for a couple of days. Than one morning on our walk he poo'd out a WHOLE sock. One of my husbands size 13 gym socks! Him and Zoe fight over the socks so I figure she must have been trying to take it away from him and to keep her from having it he must have swallowed it. Needless to say that was the cure for his runny poo!

sydney. i am not trying to scare you, but raw salmon is poisonous to dogs. and the symptoms take 5-7 days to show up. when my shephered got deathly sick, the first thing the vet asked was if he could have gotten ahold of any rwas salmon. here is a site to explain. you might want to let your vet know about it.
I am pretty lucky that Oscar has no desire to dig in the trash. My lab would have had a hay day in it though. Your just lucky she didn't have a upset tummy over it.
Dusty...thank you for the heads up about the salmon. I clicked on the link you posted but it didnt work. I was wondering if maybe you can ost the link agian?
okay. i'll post a couple in case it doesnt work again. according to the second link it occurs mostly in the pacific northwest ,which is where i live, so syd is prbably safe.
