My poor little foster babies have Coccidia. One of them is so bad he is at the vet right now on an IV drip. The other 4 got Albon (sp?) today and need it twice a day for 5 more days. 3 of the 5 little ones are in pretty rough shape. I started noticing runny poops friday or saturday. I called the lady in charge of fosters and she said to bring them to the shelter on monday. Last night I really thought I was going to lose one overnight.
I gave the four at home a bath (they don't clean themselves since they were taken away from their mother at 3 weeks) and settled them in with lots of towels, water and a special food mix (goat's milk, baby food and kitten food puree) I'm so upset about Mo (the one in the vet). Maybe I should have noticed something sooner. This is only my second litter of foster babies, but I hate for them to pay the price for my learning curve.
My moms little Boston Terrier puppy has that too. She noticed that his poop was really runny and had some blood in it. The vet gave her about 10 days worth of medicine and I think he is okay now.
I hope they all can have a quick recovery. The scary thing about Coccidia is that once they have it, it can be in their system the rest of their life (depending on their immunity). It lays dormant, and usually things like stress makes it resurface. Usually with treatment though, they can get over it fairly quickly. Just as long as you stay consistent with the medication and don't miss any doses and make sure to do the doses even when they are feeling better for a few days longer. I would also try to make their environment as stress free as possible. Keep other animals away from them and make sure it is nice and quiet where they sleep. Good luck with everything!

I'm so sorry for your troubles. I had a pup with this a while back, and after a few days with some meds he was fine. Keep us posted on the progress of the pups. Hope they get well soon!!!!
It is a floral overbalance. Get Florabalancehttp://www.flora-balance.com/Flora-Balance.htm. If a local health store does not have it, it can be ordered . The local humane [I donated some for them to try] bought some from me, as they said it was the only thing that kept the kittens from getting diarreah. It works on Labs, it treats kids for sore throats and what not. If you are good with doing your own medicene and shots, step 2, when FB does not work is Tribesson[available as Bird Sulfa, http://www.revivalanimal.com/product.asp?pn=74-315from Revival], which does not knock out all the flora in the intestines, and so is not as invasive as Metronidazole. Bleach does not kill coccidia , their reproductive stage oocysts are encapsulated and kind of time release nasties . Go to Home Depot and get Lysol IC, hospital strength. I have sprayed the yard with it. Change the food to Nutro Ultra,http://www.nutroproducts.com/nccanup.asp it has 2 kinds of acidophilus in it , and this year, w/o resorting to all the dosing and measuring, I had 2 litters free of diarreah. It was way easier...
