Ok I have posted before about Dillon and his skin and no matter what I do it is getting worse! I can't find ANY flea preventative that does not make him ill and break out and I cannot keep the fleas off of him! I don't know what to do with him he is losing his hair and itching like mad! Poor dog I can't find a happy medium! Please does ANYONE have ANY Ideas??? He is so miserable either its the fleas or a rash from the flea preventatives. I keep hoseing him down trying to keep the fleas off him but I am fighting a losing battle.

Pits, I heard of people putting something in their dogs food that make fleas not want to bite. I'm sorry I dont remeber what it is, i think it was garlic, or brewers yeast, i might be totally wrong so maybe someone else will know what it is.
Syd, it's Brewer's Yeast - available at any health food store.
Pits, I've already told you to try that spray I have. Works wonderful for our guys......and I HIGHLY suggest you start using Nexxus Therrappe. I buy it by the gallon - just bring over a bottle and I'll fill it up........
Pits I've heard of a sonic type of gizmo that is worn on the collar. It is supposed to keep bugs away. What about skin so soft by avon mixed with water perhaps? They started selling that at our pet supply, she said some people mist it on their dogs.
Stop treating the dog, treat his enviornment, it is 2/3 of the flea's life cycle. Get a hose attaching jug of yard bug spray, esp. get the Zodiac that is made for fleas. Spray your yard, and a ways into the neighbor's yard, also. Make sure it is quite dry before the dog goes on it. Get Premise spray with precor/IGR by Zodiac and do the entire house with it, inc. on and under the furniture, and the dog's bedding[after washing it]. http://www.morethanapet.com/products/03-sprays.php
That happened to my cat and she had to have a cortozone shot because it turned out that she was losing her hair and thereason I couldn't keep the fleas off of her is because she was allergic to them. This might be that same for dogs but I'm not sure.
ok I have treated the environment and it is not making much difference. He goes out and he comes back in loaded with fleas. I can use any kind of soap on him for bathing but nothing for fleas. For some reason he is hypersensitive to the chemicles used to prevent fleas. I give him garlic as i do all the dogs but guys we are in the south ya know the flea capital of the world here and fighting fleas here is far from easy.
