TEXANS! Find Stolen Dog...

Please spread the word...and pray.

It's Monday morning, July 4, and there's still no sign of Steve Karr's Maggie. She's the black, field trial lab who was in his truck when it was stolen last Friday from the Walmart parking lot in Rockwall, TX.

A corrected phone number to contact Steve is 214-770-6178. The phone number that was initially given was for the phone that was stolen along with the truck. Steve's email address is Steve_Karr@hotmail.com.

Repeating the information: Maggie is a three year old black female lab. She is a finer built field type lab weighing about 70 to 75 pounds with slightly wavy hair on her back. She has been running in field trials in the amateur and open stakes. She is microchipped. A reward is being offered for her return. She is a very friendly, obedient dog, who would probably be easy to approach.

Maggie was in a 3 hole Burns stainless steel dog box in the back of Steve's two month old charcoal gray Ford F250 truck when the it was stolen from the Walmart parking lot in Rockwall, TX, Friday, July 1. The dog box is an insulated, ventilated box, designed for working dogs in all weather, so the heat would have been no problem for Maggie.

The theft appears to have been a professional job. It's likely that the box was quickly removed from the truck since it made the truck readily identifiable. At that time hopefully Maggie would have been discovered and turned loose.

Again, please forward this to anyone or any list who might be able to help. Maggie is much too nice a dog to be lost this way.

that is sickening. hopefully whoever took the truck will at least release the dog and not leave her locked in a box and thrown off somewhere where she cant be found. and maybe even starve to death. its sad that we have to guard everything we own and that people work hard to have things and some low-life comes and takes it. i pray that the dog is found safe and returned to the owner, who i'm sure is suffering with grief. the loss of the truck pales i,m sure to the loss of his beloved pet.

Thanks. I know Texans stick together. They are great. This is crossposted.
Fox 4 news led off their broadcast with a story on Maggie. Apparently, Walmart didn't let the police see the video tapes on Friday when asked because they were too busy!!!

When the police saw the tapes on Saturday, the video tapes showed a red pickup truck pull in next to Steve's truck. The occupants then broke in and drove off leaving their red truck. They came back two hours later to get their red truck.

The police could have staked out the parking lot had they had access to the tapes when originally asked. Walmart screwed up on this one!!!

Scott

It should be on their 9pm broadcast, too. Tell all your friends

That sucks. You put a lot of work into a dog like that. Not to mention the love you also have...

I worried that the people who stole the truck might start to breed her to make a quick buck and I hoping this won't happen.

Poor dog an owner .. i hope they find the dog soon... You wouldn't believe what lengths people go to .. on GMTV in uk they had an owner on who had this huge husky stolen .. well he got the dog back in the end but not after the thieves held the dog to ransom and dyed his coat to make him appear to be a alsation/ German shepherd dog. They phoned him an asked for money an if they didnt get it they would cut of the dogs toes an shoot it. Well the owner with the advice of he police called their bluff and he found the dog dumped on his door-step a week later un-harmed but with a dodgy dye job.

I wont even have a sign on my gate as people steal dogs alot here in the u.k.. they see a sign (especially if its one with the dogs face on showing what breed it is) and the thieves get £ signs in there eyes an can make a quick buck out of breeding them. Especially as i own a Doberman and they are quite few an far between and pricey here.

That makes me sad. What a sick feeling that man must have.

Our sons friend was on vacation with his parents two weeks ago. They called begging us to go out and look for their dog. Sonny had gotten loose at the house where he was staying while they were gone.

Do you remember Airbud? Well, Sonny (girl) is Airbud's aunt. She is really special to these guys.

We were out for three days at various times looking for her. My son made flyers and we posted them at all the local spots.

Anyways, Sonny had found her way home the very first day, went to the neighbors and sat it out til someone came home. The neighbors kept her, weren't sure how to get hold of anyone.

So, even though it turned out ok, I am sure their vacation sucked since they were so worried the whole time!

I felt so bad for them. I kept cruising the neighborhood saying "If it were us, you know we would want someone looking for our dogs too!!"  Ty was such a big help.

Already long enough....funny part. I almost put someone elses dog in the van thinking it was Sonny. Ty screamed "That's her!!!" So we get out and this dog walked right up to us and laid down. I said "Oh, she is so worn out....let's take her home" Then Ty says "I am not sure this is her..."  I say "WHAT????"  lol   Where she was at.....sitting in someone's front yard, they didn't answer the door, but there were scratch marks from a big dog so I knew then this one belonged there!!

Can you imagine me calling them and sayin "I have Sonny"  and it wasn't their dog!?!!? lmao

Even worse when I was little I had a yorkie and she got out and we put up flyers and a thing in the paper we checked the pounds. we did everything and then one day we get a call and they described my yorkie perfectly. I said that my dog and then they hung up on me. I couldn't get the number he called from I was so upset.

All I know is if someone were to steal my dog or poison it or anything, they'd best be watchin their backs, 'cuz I'd be right there. I don't take things like that lightly. I lost a dog once and I kick myself in the butt whenever I think about how we just let her go. The neighbors didn't like the fact that we kept her outside during the day, even though we brought her in at night. They came and took her one evening while I was staying the night with a friend (this was when I still lived with my parents). We never did find her and we questioned the neighbors and called the cops and they denied it all the way. Now that I'm married and can make those big decisions, I am so glad that we both decided on a fenced yard. That way it'll keep people out that would try and hurt or steal our babies.

Did they steal Maggie because she was in the "working box" with 3 holes in the truck?

Sometimes, I am tempted to roll down the windows and/or let the dog free when I see an animal in a locked car with the windows rolled so high you can't stick a finger through.  I live in Florida. Keeping a dog in a car without the a/c running is cruel.  Cruel and inhumane.

Maybe they took Maggie because they were alarmed?

Somehow, it got done...
Thanks for the attention you paid this post. Every little bit helps!
THIS IS CROSSPOSTED FROM JUST LABS .COM...
Cross posted from RTF

From Steve Karr

At approximately 9:30 p.m. this evening I picked Maggie up from Police Sargeant J.D. Mcallister with the Mesquite PD.

I want to thank everyone for their support and help during the last several days. It has been a real emotional rollercoaster. The police also have my truck in their impound and were waiting for search warrents to search a chop house in the area.

Maggie is fine. She was in the back yard with all of the bumpers that I had in the dog box.

Once again I want to thank everyone for all of their hard work in helping bring Maggie home.

Steve and Riley Karr
