$600 is awfully steep!  I would need some explanations as to why an animal in the shelter has an adoption fee of $600.

I dont want to seem cheap but ...I mean really..

Adoption

Dogs at the Shelter  |  Cats at the Shelter

boy-puppy.jpgThe Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County finds homes for more animals than any other shelter in the state of Washington. Each year, more than 7,000 shelter pets are matched with loving families, an average of 150 each week.

On average there are over 50 dogs and over 35 cats available for adoption at the shelter each day. We encourage you to view the descriptions of these shelter pets, perhaps choose several you are interested in, and then visit our shelter to get acquainted personally. Unfortunately, we cannot answer questions regarding individual animals by e-mail. Please visit the shelter to obtain further information on any pet you see on this website.

Adoption Application

Our simple pet adoption application, helps to match the right pets with the right people. Our animal care staff will review the application with the you personally, and they may be able to recommend a particular breed or individual animal that is available, based on your preferences and lifestyle. You can print the Pet Adoption Application (pdf format) or pick one up at the shelter.

Lol!

I couldn't resist emailing them politely to ask about that whole thing

That price reminds me how, a few years ago, I saw a purebred Great Dane in a shelter. She was already 6 months old, and had a broken hip and was $1200. It was a shelter in Utah.

Also, don't you remove the testicles when you neuter a dog? So if this was a boy for adoption with only one testicle, why would that be a problem. you have to remove them anyway, right? What kind of shelter wouldn't require a dog to be neutered? Maybe he/she is a puppy mill reject?

Very weird "shelter"

600 bucks is pretty steep. To adopt a dog from our shelter is 70.
