i Feel Helpless .. Harvey found a baby bird

well i feel pretty low at the moment .. harvey was barking his head of and i went outside to check if some one was on the property and there werent but i looked down at my feet and ther ws alittle baby bird ..with some adult feathers but still with some baby feathers ..before i touched it i looked every where for an idea of where this baby bird came from and i couldnt find a nest anywhere and my gardens pretty open. So i picked it up before harvey decided to make a meal of it Now i know you are supposed to leave them be but like i said there was no nest anywhere.

well i come in and phoned the rspca and they said there was nothing they could do . i have no clue what to do with a baby bird .. im keeping it warm and i tried to give it some water but it seems o.k ish ..i just feel so helpless and i hate to see animals suffer

does anyone know what to do .. i feel pretty helpless .im in the middle of no-where and i cant drive yet so i can t get to the vets ..i'm guessing this little birds chances of survival are slim to none but i didnt want to leave it in the garden to get eaten by a cat!

I know how you feel, Molly's nickname around here has been "BirdKiller" for a couple months.

We were out back on the patio eating and this "thing" came flying by my head, not exactly flying, but it landed next to the patio and Molly took off instantly, grabbed it, threw it around.....all so fast and before we realized it was a baby bird.  Molly was only playing with it, but she killed it....talk about ruining dinner!!!!!

Made me sick, I felt so bad. Well, the boys had nicknamed Molly "Switchblade" a long time ago...they said she was too prissy and they were going to give a harder edge image!! rofl  My kids are insane.  But now we they call her BirdKiller!  lol

By the way, Rocky's nickname is "Slingblade" You know he is a luvable lug with not a lot of commen sense! lol So the boys follow him around, saying in a drawn out voice "I like french fried taters"

So we have Switchblade and Slingblade.....???!!!!!

I am sorry about the baby bird. I have had a few babies that we have saved and some that didn't make it.

We have been having a blast with Asha (our cat) This morning there was three moles laying on my porch She doesn't eat them, she just kills them and leaves them on the mat so we see them when we first go out.

It was funny though, some of you may remember Dudley, our hamster that we had, well we had trained Asha and Tiocy (our other cat) that Duds was off limit and they both did great and neve hurt him, even when he got out and was wandering around the house for two days before we found him. They never touched him but both of them would go outside and hunt frequently. Well, now Tiocy is an indoor only and Asha is only outside in the daytime, but just like two days ago I saw her watching something and it was a mole but it was a lite brown one and it looked just like Dudley but with a tail. She WOULDN'T touch it. I think she was afraid she would get in trouble if she did! lol All three of the moles that were on the porch were very dark ones. I guess the light brown ones are safe from her! It was too funny because she watched that mole for a good 10 minutes before she walked off. I took the mole out to one of the near by fields and let him go. It was too funny.

Our town is surrounded by wheat fields, so we get TONS of rodents.
