Occuaptions

I just thought I would ask what everyone did for a living.

I am a bank courier. I drive around to Wells Fargo banks and Citi Financial bank and I pick up the daily bank work. Like checks, paychecks, loan apps, and a lot more bank crap. Before this job I was a stay at home mom. But next year I plan on going to school and maybe getting into real estate or maybe accounting.

And Brad used to be a welder, he used to make pressure vessels and heat exchangers. And he was also getting into the AC business. But since his accident he has been going to school because he can't do anything he used to. But he is getting his Mechanical Engineering Degree. He should graduate either December 2008 or May of 2009.

quinn is a tool and die maker for milguard windows. he too is on disability right now for vascular problems in his legs and a sleep disorder.

so we are both at home. i am bored. my job was a fast paced job and i already have my house as clean as i can get it so i am hoping they figure something out soon ! lol

I work in the accounting department for a Battery company in Dallas.

My first job was at the mall, then I went to work for a private investigation company, then insurance, and now the battery company.  I finally found a place I really love to work

i think i answered this one already lol, but i have two jobs that i work at seperate times.  in the summer, when the tuna start to show up, i work out of three different landings as a relief capt. going to different boats, usually the same 8 or so boats.

my dad retired from the city of los angeles as the capt of the '' mayor's yacht '' as its called, and always pushed me to get out on the boats as a kid.  he had a lobster boat on the side and i have fond memories of going out with him on it when i was 5 years old to about 7 years old.

my parents split at 7 and i went between my moms in san diego and my dads in la, but spent most of the time in la where i went fishing almost every non-school day for free on any boat i wanted but had to do the dirty work on the trip home.  yes, its called being a '' pinhead '' or ''pinning ''.  i was pinning on everything from fishing boats to harbor cruise boats and was loving every minute of it, no matter what kind of cruel and unusual initiations they put me through lol.

my younger brother followed me everywhere.  at 14, we moved to catalina island, where i finished high school, and worked on the glass bottom and shore boats getting them clean every morning before school at butt crack 30 am.  ( its a real bummer when ppl get sea sick while looking into the glass well ).  but i missed fishing.

after highschool, we moved off the island, and i was back on the sportboats, but now my dad was really pushing me to get serious and start putting together my paperwork for getting a licence and working for big money.   i got an ab licence at 17 and am still the youngest person to ship as an ab.  i had never been on an oil tanker in my life and here i was joining a union with a license to drive one, not as captain, but as helmsman.  i sat in the union hall everyday for 7 months in a los angeles ghetto before the old timers finally sat back and let this youngster win a job call.  i shook as i stepped onboard this 1000 ft tanker anchored off the coast, getting settled in and not even knowing where i was headed.    folks, let me tell u that alaska is a beautiful place, but i wouldnt recomend it in december.

i went to alot off cool places on that ship and could type for days about things i saw while on it, but ill spare yall.  the money was absolutely incredible.  but i missed fishing sooo bad it hurt.  it was all i talked about on the ship.  the next two years were spent on ships, tug boats and crew/offshore supply vessels to the rigs.  now i was about to turn 19 the min age for a capt licence and salivated heavily for one.  i went to school to learn everything, and took the test on my birthday, and failed by one question.  two weeks later i took it again and passed having only missed one question.   there were 1000 questions, and the test took 3 days.

it was on now.  i had a licence and went straight to the sportfishing landings to show it off and started working as a second capt, ( trips longer than 12 hours require two )  for the next 5 years before being cut loose as first capt.  i worked several boats in the worlds capitol of sportfishing..........san diego ( bet u didnt know it was huh ).  a couple of years ago i got a hair up my butt and wanted to try running rivers, so i went to laughlin nevada and drove the high speed taxi boats on the colorado river servicing the casinos.  THAT was fun!!!!!  but i injured my knee pretty bad there and started drinking heavily and long story short, came back to san diego to take care of the problem.  i took a year off and went into a rehab where i graduated earlier this year.  im 18 months sober now and proud of that.  i now work for a separate program run by the alpha project that deals with homeless in the winter for 4 months a year in san diego. i supervise a homeless shelter downtown from dec to april when the tuna are gone.  its a very rewarding job but i work the graveyard shift so i see the ones that cops bring in from terrible situations and take satisfaction in knowing i am able to give them a bed and make them feel safe for a night.

my knee is still jacked up, and i work as often as i can, but not as often as id like.  i still have a couple of months left of fishing before i get a month off and go on vacation.  last time i went to milwaukee. ( i stress LAST time lmao )  i have to lose weight before i can have my knee surgery, and im working on it.  keep me in prayer.  i run alot of half day trips lately, but still manage to catch an over night or two day tuna trip every week.

sorry its soo long.  i hate writting and am shocked that i did this much.  u will prolly never see me write this much again lol.   if anyone reads this whole thing, ill be shocked lmao.

thats my story, and im stickin to it!!!

I am a waitress in an Arabic bar and restuarant.
They have live music every night that I work, Dixieland jazz on Wednesday, and belly dancers with the multi-lingual groups Thursday thru Sunday.
The staff there is international, as is the clientele. Every ethnicity and color and language on the planet interacts there. You can walk through the place on any given night and hear up to 50 languages being spoken. Most of the wait staff and management speak several languages fluently.
As we have several neighboring colleges, and many clubs that meet there, the diversity rises, as well as the fact that a high percentage of our staff and clientele are very well educated.
Good food, good music[they were on fire tonight], intelligent conversation, interesting people...a shame I have to work thru it all to make it happen...

KittysMom... We don't have any Arabic restaurants here. What type of food do they serve? Different types of food always interest me.

Five years ago I worked for Starbucks for two years, after that I worked at Jamba Juice as a manager for 2 years.

Now I just got a job at my Vets office as a receptionist.I'm also starting a dogwalking/pet sitting service, I'll also train dogs to do whatever their owners want me to do.

Oasis....how do you get into horse training? That is always something I have wanted to do, as well as dog training.

I am a hairdresser and a dietary aide. I've been a hairdresser for almost 2 years, and have only worked at one salon, since the day I graduated beauty school.
I've worked at the nursing home for 5 1/2 years now and I am an assistant cook, which means I make desserts and pour juice and wash dishes, lol. YAY.

I'm a stay at home mom. I am currently going to school to be a stenographer.

I have lots of past experience bartending and waiting tables, and when the kids start back school, I have 2 ideas for a part-time job--- either a cart girl at the golf course or serving or bartending at my favorite Mexican restaurant.

Syd-  I actually fell into it by accident......talk about luck....lol

I got my horse for x-mas and had to move her the day i bought her so i found a place where one of my clients (for hoof trimming) was boarding his.  I brought her there and it was a disaster after awhile (long story...lol).  Well, one of my neighbors had talked about her mom's place and that she boards horses.  Turned out she was closer to me so i called her and set up to see her place.  It was awesome so i had her pick up my horse and take her to her house.  I come to find out that the lady's daughter which is my neighbor's sister is a horse trainer and trains using the style of the same famous trainer as i wanted to learn from.  I never asked but it came up in conversation that i wanted to learn how to train my horse with this famous trainers method.  The trainer there said "i'll help you".  I said great and that if she did, i would help her train.  She agreed and started teaching me.  I have been training my own horse with her knowledge and now, tomorrow, will be riding her for the first time!   YAY!!!!  I am almost done learning and the trainer says the next horse to come in for training is mine.  I have learned soooooo much but i am tired of getting up at 5am........lol  At least it's only for another month and fall will be here so we don't have to worry about the heat so much.

Until about 3 months ago I was a manager of a Shell gas station and a Subway ( they are owned by the same person and in the same buliding) Now I am just a Subway manager. I decided that managing both was way to much work and stress. I still get the same pay just less hours and stress!

Before that I was a waitress at Benagins for 2 years, my first job was at a hotel in the banguet department, I started as a server and worked my way up to asst manager at the age of 17. I also bartended at the same time at the same place. I loved the money just hated working 7 days a week 12-17 hour days. I worked there from the age of 16 til I was 21 and moved out of state. They have offered me my job back at better pay and less hours i'm still deciding IF I want to go back there, I know they will take me back at anytime.

My hubby is a Security guard, has been for over 6 years now, as a side hobby\job he puts in car steros and works on peoples dirt bikes. I swear he does more for free then he gets paid for.

I'm a stay at home mommy.  I also redecorate my house every couple of months so I guess you could also call me a decorator.
