Well...JD got tired of Sandy snapping at his nose and he went crazy! He attacked her, and he wasn't playing around, I heard her cries from the kitchen and rushed to the front yard to see what was wrong and he had her in his mouth biting her and I grabbed him and said "NO!" I ran her in the house to see what he did and she has cuts under each arm and bite marks on her belly I was horrified. I don't know what to do, well I know I have to keep them seperated, but do you think Sandy has finally learned her lesson to stop picking fights with big dogs? I don't think she started this fight..usually JD will go up to her and she will get annoyed and snap at him and he'll go away..she doesn't like big dogs all in her face..I figured since they are both puppies they will get used to eachother but now I'm scared. Will I ever be able to leave them out together without having to worry about this happening again? This is how Sandy was at first with my adult German Shepherd but she eventually stopped, but Delilah never bit Sandy like that..Is there anything I can do?
The cuts are like that on both of her front legs, and her belly is just bitten up
I really don't have any helpful advise. But I did want to say I am sorry this happened to Sandy. At least for now keep a close eye on them until things settle down.
Yeah, I've had her in the house resting, she's still a little shaken up about the whole thing. I left Danny out there with JD and Delilah and they are fine together, Danny isn't like Sandy he won't snap at any of the others he knows he's smaller than them but Sandy just doesn't care, she thinks she is the top dog lol she doesn't care what size the others are she will show try to show them who is boss, looks like she got shown who is boss this time. I'm just glad it wasn't that bad, could have been much worse.
hopefully she has learned not to mess with the big dogs.my gsd puts up with alot out of the frenchies before he gives them a warning. that has always been enough to do the trick. hopefully sandy will stay away from jd and they will learn to respect each other.lol
I honestly think it might be just a puppy thing. lola (french bully) would play with tiki (Sibe husky) and Tiki is younger so she still has/had the sharp puppy teeth. Well long story short, they've been around each other for about 2 months now and lola still gets pis*y with Tiki and Lola's the one ending up with teeth marks on her legs and neck and so forth. I dont know if they'll ever quit play/fighting, but I guess it's what they do. Usually when things get heated between the two of them I just tell them to knock it off, and if that doesn't work they get seperated or spanked. Usually telling them to chill works with these two, they know when we're not kidding!
Poor little sandy ~ i hope she is still doing o.k..
Do you think they were sorting out there pack order. My mum has a Jack Russellxpatterdale terrier called Alfie and a Staffordshire bull terrier called Jake.
Alfie is the more dominant one of the two even though hes a third of the size of Jake..but Alfie got bit/nipped the other day by Jake (not anything major) but it put alfie back in his place as it jumps all over Jake and tried to bite his tail. I guess Jake was just telling him to back off and leave him alone for awhile.
They get on well together and used to be housed together but we have seperated them because if they get into a fight whilst they are alone if could be fatal to tiny little Alfie.
That's exactly what I think he was doing twink, JD is new but he also knows he is bigger so he is trying to be second in the pack...earlier he pounced on her and Delilah my gsd bit him..she is protective over the little ones lol
you will probably have to keep an eye on them for awhile at first. pups will be pups and think playtime is all the time. the older dogs dont think the same way.sandy is a cutie pie and might be a little jealous of the new kid on the block. once she realizes that you dont love her any less , she will probably be a little more acceptive of the pup. my frenchies get into sometimes and i have to get right on them .its usually over treats or a toy. but most of the time they are very lovey-dovey with each other.
oh i have never seen one like sandy in my area before..shes got a beautifull face ..i love the pick in the competition thread where she looks like shes grinning
