i really dont know what to make of the whole cloning thing. i am for any medical research that doesnt involve the use of animals. but cloning? we are all individuals. i couldnt imagine a world full of people that all look and act the same. they may as well just build a world of robots ! lol
... why would cloning be needed... how many are PTS everyday? not to mention the dogs in other parts of the world ( close to where the cloning was done) that are used for food…**. ~~ scratches head ~~ / I understand cloning organs/ tissue for medical reasons but a whole living being... Human or animal... why is that needed?
I don't agree with cloning. Not because of anything religious or anything like that. In fact, like another poster, I really like science and the advances it has made. I just think some things like that can lead to trouble. Always reminds me of Jurassic Park and how the character Ian, played by Jeff Goldblum says, "Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should". I just think there will be reprocussions of cloning down the road.

I might do that just to keep my dog around but in a way it will never be the same dog. This might help out with kids cause no one wants to tell ak id that there beloved pet has died.
My mom used to replace the fish, before I came home from school. Eventually, she got tired of that, and would just let us have money to go to the petstore and replace our own, which was even more fun...
Well, you are real right about that. New century scenario... giving the kids the option of making a new dog, just by giving them the money, telling them it's OK, we will just MAKE a new one. Scary.
i was brought up knowing that everything has an end to its life and everthing wil die eventually. I guess my mum was just being realistic about things lol.
As for having a 'farmers wife' attitude i know what you mean ..living on a small holding and farm land when i was younger. I tend to get very emotional about very personal pets (dogs, cats etc) that share the household..but i do not get emotional when a turkey dies (yes it sad but it was there purpose to be used at christmas) and that was made clear from the start.
As for cloning i have mixed views. It is wonderfull they have made this scientific breakthrough and now have more knowledge..but it makes me wonder if it really has a purpose in the world as i do not favour human cloning. the thought of it happening makes me feel very un-easy.
yeah HUman cloning makes me feel very weird and i really dont think it can serve a good purpose in the future.
I remeber watching A.I and even though the child was a robot it defiantely made sense on the problems which people could face if they cloned their child.
Also if it goes ahead the world may get heavily over-populated ..causing chaos at some point..just a thought.
I know many countrys have voted against human cloning. As for animals it may serve a purpose when trying to rescue a endangered breed of animals..but i think its abit weird that people would clone a pet when it died..It is gonna break my heart when Harvey goes but i would never clone him as it is a fact of life things die and people have been dealing with the emotions of grieveing for ever ..hey that could be the 'farmers wife 'attitude again though
I totally agree because with human cloneing all they will probably need is DNA and that is really easy to get so to think that anyone could clone you is kind of wierd.
