weird behavor

Trinity has been acting kind of funny. For the past 2 or 3 days shes been carrying around one of her balls. She has 2 main balls she carrys around a small pink squicky ball and a big blue squicky ball. She winnes while she is carrying them around. Also she doesn't really like it when you try to take it away from her she will pull her head down and away from you if you reach out to take it. I'm starting to think that she might be using it as a scurity blanket, Is this even possible or is it something else? She doesn't even put the ball down to use the restroom.

our gsd , harley, does the same thing with his tennis ball. he will carry it around and whine if we go near him. he also fetches it , but doesnt want to give it up. i have to say drop it  in a firm voice. he will lay out in the yard and as soon as the little dogs or i go out , he runs over and grabs the ball like he thinks we're going to take it from him. lol

Trinity doesn't whine when we go near the ball she walks around the house and just whines.

i wouldnt worry about her. she is probably just staking a claim to it. or shes trying to find a place to put it so that no one else finds it. lol

Jeez, I feel the same.
Isn't even worth the effort to figure out why.
Must be the planets, and stars...

aslong as she freely gives the ball without being snappy theres no probs.let her have her moment and some special time with it lol. Harvey does the same with his blue ball but he has no option but to give it up sometimes as i dont want him getting to fixated on one object

Do you think I should take it from trinity so she doesn't get attached to one object.

IMO yes if you want to.. some dogs can get very attached to toys and can get snappy as they think they have sole ownership over it (although not all)..so harvey doesn't get possesive i have 2 small toys baskets each with different toys in which i rotate every couple of days

Thats a good idea. Well but the funny thing is that she is switching between 3 different balls one is green and small, one is pink and small, and the last one is big and blue. SO don't really think she will get snappy.

No i doubt she will either. Most dogs dont ~ its if they are allowed to dominate toys from an early age they tend to feel they have sole ownership over them and will snap back to tell you to back off its mine. Harveys used to me taking toys etc from him and giving them si ive never had a problem.

Its quite a large problem some people seem to have though..you only have to type it into the search engine and loads come up

My friends dog does that about a squeaky bunny but shes had the dog since it was a puppy and she had to hand raise it cause the mother and she used the bunny as a mother or friends symbol.
