Ralph and Edna were both patients in a mental hospital. One day while they were walking past the hospital swimming pool, Ralph suddenly jumped into the deep end. He sank to the bottom of the pool and stayed there. Edna promptly jumped in to save him. She swam to the bottom and pulled Ralph out.
When the Head Nurse Director became aware of Edna's heroic act she immediately ordered her to be discharged from the hospital, as she now considered her to be mentally stable.
She went to tell Edna the news, "Edna, I have good news and bad news. The good news is you are being discharged. Since you were able to rationally respond to a crisis by jumping in and saving the life of another patient, I have concluded that your act displays sound mindedness. The bad news is Ralph, the patient you saved, hanged himself with his bathrobe belt, in the bathroom, right after you saved him. I am so sorry, but he's dead."
Edna replied "He didn't hang himself . . . I put him there to dry. How soon can I go home?"
So let me understand that we are now making fun of mental patients? One would wonder if there are members on this forum that have elderly relatives perhaps that are in nursing facilities or hospitals and are being treated for dimensia or alzheimers. Hmmm, the answer to that would be yes. I for one am offended.
i have had many elderly relatives John In NY that have suffered with the disease so i for one could have easily taken offence hell i even got one right now in a home slowly fading away..but to get through my worries i find it easier to take a lighter hearted look at these things that life brings our way and laugh so sue me!
John in NY its just a joke. Kind of like how some fat people make fat jokes or blonde people make blonde joke. Just becasue we make a joke that is about a mental hospital or what ever doesn't mean that we are making fun of them.
ok, if i offended u, i am sorry and will be more mindful of the jokes i post..
im sorry to hear about your relative being in that situation. it wasnt my attention to offend anyone. i also have relatives in nursing homes, my grandfather being one of them. again, to u ny, i am sorry.
Tuna, No problem just a little sensitive about the subject as the developments with my relatives are fairly recent and my family has had trouble dealing with them. You and I got started on the wrong foot, I am committed to make sure that is in the past. Thanks for the words of apology, no offense taken. We move on. John
i am a total nut case and suffering a little touch of alzheimers too. a little on the fat side , a redneck and a definate blonde ! i am not offended at all ! if you cant laugh at yourself , whats left ?
