Matt and I were on our way back to my house and a little bit past my driveway was a dead kitty. =( It was a stray that I've seen every now and then around here. It had just died. :( I asked Matt to pick it up and put it over the fence across the road and he just couldn't do it, so I did. I am the animal lover and I was perfectly fine with it. I thought it'd be disrespectful to leave him there to get hit again. I covered him in really tall grass, thought I'd do something decent for the poor little guy :( Matt kept saying "Poor little guy" "I'm sorry, I just can't do it" and he said "I guess that saying is true, all life is precious, no matter what it is"
I understand what he means. I watched a kitten get a broken neck and live. I felt so bad there was nothing we could do for it so one of my friends took the kitten and told us to go in the house and he would take care of it. The next thing I know we heard a gun shot I felt so bad cause at that time I knew what had happened. I couldn't stop crying for 2 days. The kitten wasn't even 8 weeks old and had been abandoned by there mother. I still feel so bad about this and that was when I was about 11 or 12. And I'm 20 so that was a very long time ago. I guess it was worse cause I was the only one who held the kitten before it died.
Oh yeah, Matt's very sensitive. This was as sensitive as I've seen him. I was carrying the cat and he just kept saying "Awww, Oh my God" over and over. I totally understand why he didn't do it, he tried but just couldn't do it, he felt so awful for the cat. I backed out some but I just did it and it was over. I'm so glad he wasn't alive, because there are no clinics open now. He must have been hit in the head or something. If it were daytime, I would have buried him. =(
PD- that would be awful!! Poor kitten :( Matt said a few weeks back that if he saw an animal suffering, he'd shoot it too but he backed out of picking this cat up so I know he couldn't shoot an animal, for any reason.
I dont know what to say its just so sad. Everyone thinks that pets in the pound are bad but i think strays that die by getting hit by a car or something and no does anything about is so much worse. At least in the pound they end the animals suffering. if they are srtays they suffer some much. It just makes me want to cry.
Yeah, strays suffer alot. Matt saw this cat a few weeks ago under one of our trees and he went over towards it and it ran away, right down the street and a car was coming but this one actually slowed down, and it was over a hill, too!
I would love to help the starys but one of the hard things is that they almost always run from humans. SO that stops us from really help them. I do put out food for the strays around my hosue and water. They love trinitys dog house I find so many cats asleep in there cause trintiy doesn't use it cause I haven't put her bed in it yet
Yea they love trinitys dog house cause it is hand made and has a sky light for a roof so if stays pretty warm in there. They really like it during the winter time. It even has a porch its small though. I will take a photo of it a put up here tomorrow when theres light outside.
aww, yes, please do! :) I'd make house for strays if we had alot of them. My dad is mean, he just runs the strays off...Doesn't happen but a couple times a year though.
Around where I live there are so many cats its insane. My room mates made fun of me one time cause I was grying cause I hit a bunny. They were teasing me sayign that I ran over thumper. I hated them for they cause obviously they didn't understand.
What ****es! ha! no really. Oh my gosh, I would totally go off on anyone who was being totally insensitive to me...I get all crazy over animals! I go off on ANYONE, I mean ANYONE...Hey, wanna chat?
i hate seeing dead animals on the side of the roads. it ruins my whole day. it even bothers me when i see opossums in the road. one day i saw a mother and three babies all dead in the road. its heartbreaking
we live in a heavily wooded area. and a ways back off the main road. but when i get on 224th, its a busy road and i think animals try to cross the road and dont make it. i see raccoons, squirrels, a couple of times i have seen deer, dogs, cats, but mostly oppossums.
one day i was on my way to my sisters and saw a big black lab dead on the side of the road. later that day i was telling my sister how i got so bummed out over that black lab. she got a funny look on her face and said her neighbors black lab was missing. sure enough it was her dog and he had traveled quite a ways. i felt even worse after that. they have alot of kids and they were all crying when the dad came back with the dog to bury him.
i felt bad too, but its better than having them always looking for it. they pick up dead animals fast out here. so if i hadnt mentioned it they probably would have never known what happened to him and still be looking.she said she wouldnt have thought he would have traveled that far so she wouldnt have thought to even look that far.
