I heard about a doggy door that is electronic and that the dog wears a device on there collar. When the dog gets close to the door the door unlocks and lets the dog out. If an indoor cat trys to go through it it locks cause the cat doesn't have the device. Has anyone else heard of this? I tryed to find it but I couldn't if anyone is able to find it can they please post the link up here for me.
Is this what you're looking for? It's the only electronic door I could find. Also if you have a sliding glass door there is a system that you can hook to that where the door will automatically slide when your dog gets close. Its on the same site.
I think I would go with the large. It says its for pets 40-80 pds. and its 15" in height. I can't find height or weight on the one of the last link I sent you.
Cut Out Size = 16 7/8” x 11 ½”
Maximum Shoulder Width = 10 5/8” Those are the dimensions it gives that you would need to know the problem is will the door lift up enough for him to go through or will he have to bend down so far that it would be uncomfortable for him? I'd go with the first one and the large even though its more expensive. The first one also seems safer. The door slides side to side. What would happen if the door failed while Trinity was going through and it smacked her on the head? That would be horrible. Go with the first door I sent in large.

Make sure that water and shade are available, both inside and out, if you aren't home. Could be the darn thing will stop working at some point. Don't want a dead dog as a result...
I was going to say the same thing as Kitty, I never bought one of those doors, I'm not sure I'd trust it, having 5 dogs I don't want anyone going thirsty.
Ok cool. We really didn't want a doggy door but with trinity having to left at the house bye herself for about 8 hours and having 3 indoor cats that don't go outside then I have 2 chioces get one of these doors or let her poop and pee in the house.
I was thinking this doggy door stuff over again, and now that I think of it..my dogs hate wearing their collars, the would probably lose it and be trapped somewhere! I hope yours will work out for you lol
Oh ok there are so many people saying things its hard to remember who tell me what. LOL Thank you for telling me LOL I'm kind of thinking I'm going to go with the sliding one but I'm not sure yet.
