My dad has been diagnosed with early stages of cirrhosis. I guess it could be worse. We can control it with medication and proper dieting. Yesterday he freaked out thinking he only had a week to live. He doesn't realize that if he does what he is told to do he can live for many many years. I think he is in the denial stage of thing. The doctor also said that it wasn't likely caused be alcohol either. He thinks it was caused by working with cowhides almost all of his life. Its pretty bad when the family business can kill you.
Its a liver disease. But anyways its when the liver turns into scar tissue. Sooner or later he may need a liver transplant. And if that time comes he can have half of mine if we are a match.
sorry to hear about your dad paige. luckily it was caught in the early stage and can be controlled. my oldest brother has hep c .they said he probably got it years ago when he first joined the military. he has been through the treatments but its too far gone. they dont give him more then another couple of years.they could have done more if it had been caught earlier, but they didnt even know about the desease back then.
i am sure your dad will be fine and if it came to helping my family with an organ ,i would do the same thing.
Sorry to hear about your brother. My uncle has Hep C also. He got it in the 70s from a blood transfusion. My sisters girlfriend also has it and her doctor said she has maybe 10 years left. Too young of a person to be dying in her 30s.
