on my porch

This morning I found 4 kitties on my porch. There are 2 tabby and 2 black. It has been raining here for a few days and I guess their momma wanted them dry. (I have a screened in porch) This is the second litter I have found on my porch. It nice to have cats outside just so they keep away the rodents. I think we have a total of 9 cats around the 3 houses around me. They get fed by one of the neighbors. But sometimes I feel like I should take them to the shelter. I don't know....

I don't have feral cats, but have rats outside, since the cats are gone. Mostly, I preferred the cats, except toms that sprayed
I say keep the cats. If there is a free spay/feral program in your area, trap, spay and release them. Cats are territorial. That way you have mousers but the population does not get bigger.

I think a lot of the kitties have found themselves homes with some neighborhood families. The ones on the porch now I am trying to get them used to me. So then maybe they will live on my porch. Brad absolutly refuses to let me have a cat in the house. I want a Maine Coon so bad.

I too want a maine coon!!!  Eventually we are determined to get one, but in the mean time we are on a list to get these 2 white kitties from a local rescue.  We have to wait until they are old enough to be adopted.  I gave the gal my phone number but forgot to get the name of the rescue.  I'm hoping and praying that she'll call and let me know what's up.

Some cats do fine outside of a shelter. There is a stray cat that lives on my neaiborhood that everyone named lucky cause he has 3 legs and 1 eye. We don't know where he came from he just showed up in our naeiborhood one day. He is the sweetest cats but when every the animalcontrol is around he is a really pissed off cat. He hates the animal control people. Hes sweet to everyone else he even comes when he is called. LOL

Paige, I have an indoor cat.
I highly recommend you do not get one. I have put up with, and cleaned up after, this creature for about 15 years. I'm told cats live into their 20's. They start being a real pain in the butt about 10 years of age, and get worse from there. This cat can no more live outdoors than I could. It is quite a responsibility to have one inside. I won't have another indoor cat. Too much work.

I don't have to worry about an indoor cat as long as me and Brad are together. He hates litter boxes. He also hates the fact that cats are so independent and only care about you when its time to eat. LOL!!!

When I stilll lived with my mom we had a house cat. His name was Kat and he spent half his time out too. He was a great cat. I died two years ago. I think he was 17.

I hate that no matter how often I vaccum, there is cat litter on the carpet 5 min. later.
Stepping in cat puke at 4am, is another peeve of mine.
This cat has always been well housebroken. Can't say that of all the cats that I have had.

we have one cat of our own and two foster cats, one of which i have found a home for. they are no problem at all. they use the litterbox without incidents.and one sleeps on my pillow at night. they are independent though, and only like petting on their time. my dogs are ready to give and recieve love 24-7.  Petting

Our local humane society will catch ferel cats and spay/neuter theme and rerelease them in local farms (with permission). I am not sure if there is some sort of program like that in your area, but it might help. Or even if you could catch them yourself and see if the shelter or vet would spay/neuter them for you and just rerelease them were you found them, that way they wouldn't keep multiplying and ending up on your porch. Good luck!
