The other night while I was sleeping and my boyfriend was on the couch, something crawled in my ear! I felt something in there but i dont know what. I freaked out and starting screaming! My boyfriend came running in and started laughing at me :( I told him something was in my ear but i didnt feel it anymore and i laid down with my ear on the pillow and i swear i felt something agian! I dont know how to described what it felt liked but I started screaming agian. Im so paranoid now it takes me a while to fall sleep cause im scared it is going to happen agian. Has anything similar happened to anyone hear? Its sooo creapy! I never did find out what it was.....ewww.

This isn't going to make you feel better, but I talked to somebody this weekend who had a friend who had to go to the doctor because a poisonous spider crawled in his ear. They didn't know what it was until the doctor got it out, but it wasn't good.

Shiny! You're going to freak ME out, lol.

I've never felt like something was crawling on me while in the house, but when I was a kid, I was running with my dog and a giant moth flew into my mouth and I swallowed it because of how fast it flew into my mouth. Guess I should have learned to run with my mouth closed huh? lol

Eeeuwww.
Syd, maybe it was just wax...it feels crawly sometimes when it comes out.
Be careful when you clean your ear. It is real delicate.
Don't poke things in there and screw around with it.
I think there is a solution that can go in and clean, but talk to a pharmacist.

i think i put this in another post, but a few weeks ago, i woke in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, and i saw blood all over the pillow, and freaked!!  i ran into the bathroom and looked in the mirror, and there was no blood.  i looked up my nose, turned my lips inside out and everything.  no blood.  well, i used the restroom and went back to my bunk and when i turned on the light to inspect my pillow, i saw i had my red striped towel on it.

i fealt so dumb

Tuna, that is too funny!!!

Syd, the average person swallows 6 spiders per year.  We sleep with our mouths open at times and spiders instinctively gravitate to dark, warm openings...lol.  If we feel something while asleep, our first instinct is to swallow....lol....so we rarely ever realize we do this.

Kitty is right.....sometimes when the ear drains, you can feel it.  It DOES feel like something is crawling inside your ear.  Some people drain alot and can actually see it run out, some people drain just enough to feel, and others don't feel it at all.  It is a chemistry which can change as well.  You may have never felt it before, but started feeling it now because teh amount of fluids could have changed.

I say that as long as you don't start feeling sick, get headaches, or notice any hearing loss - not to worry.  My guess is that it was just fluid drainage.  More than likely if it was an insect you would have felt it more than twice.  Drainage can happen when you are standing up or laying down but is most noticable just after standing up from laying down.

If you feel this again....do not worry.  If your fluid drainage has increased you may very well experience this the rest of your life.  it is an odd feeling to say the least.

If you do start to notice any of the signs above or any of the following, then I'd check with my doctor:

Dizziness

Sore throat

Tightness or swelling of the face, throat, neck

Ear ache (or ear pain of any kind)

If you do believe that there is an insect in your ear you can do this:

Turn your head so that the affected side is up, and wait to see if the insect flies or crawls out.

If this doesn't work, try pouring mineral oil, olive oil, or baby oil into the ear. As you pour the oil, pull the ear lobe gently backward and upward for an adult, or backward and downward for a child. The insect should suffocate and may float out in the oil. AVOID using oil to remove any object other than an insect, since oil can cause other kinds of objects to swell.

Never put your finger in your ear as it could cause the insect to sting or bite.

This post gives me the creepy crawlies.  EEWW!  Its not the ear drainage that bothers me its the bug thing that bothers me and I'm not even afraid of bugs.

Oh my gosh Twink! I can't believe it lived! You would think the saliva in your mouth would have grounded him at least, lol

I used to get wax buildup in my ear as a child because I swam a lot and the doc told my parents to pour a teeny bit of hydrogen peroxide in my ears and just lay on your side for a few minutes before switching sides. I still do it on occassion just to clean my ears. It tickles REALLY bad though! lol

i dont remember having any bugs in my ear, but one day when my kids were little they came running and screaming that there was a big hairy spider on the ceiling in their room and i needed to go get it. expecting a tiny little spider, i was not prepared for the very large spider over my daughters bed.i got on the bed with a book and was trying to knock it down and i did...right on to my face. i fell off the bed while bashing myself in the face trying to get it off. i have been scared to death of spiders ever since.  Afraid
