Im writing a list of all the tricks and commands I want to teach Hyde. He is a very fast learner and just now taught him stay and shake in 5 minutes!
I keep thinking im leaving something out on my list, so if anyone has any tricks or commands I dont have please put them in this post so I can add them to my list.
This is what I have so far, sit, down, stay, shake, come, find it, rollover, turn, crawl, backup, drop it, leave it and up. (Im starting his leash training soon so I purposly left that leash training stuff off my list till I start.) Thanks!
Those all sound like good commands for Hyde to know. Lola and Tiki only know Sit. We're still trying to work on the stay. Tiki if in the right mood we can get her to give us a High Five which we're also using to do shake. High five is the hand up in the air and we say "gimme five" and shake is palm parallel to the floor, "shake"
I find "off" to be particulary useful. I also like "wait" for dealing with doors, and "stand" keeps the dog from squirming around on the table at the vet.

He might be a quick learn but just a word of edvice you might want to just keep doing the same tricks over and over and never stop if you stop for a week in might be hard to get him to do it again.
Thanks for all the replies!!! I added all you suggestions to my list!
PD...Hyde and I practice tricks and commands 15 minutes each day, once he learns something like shake, I make him shake for any treats, food, petting, etc that he will get.
Thanks Puttin! Those are some great tricks you listed and I will defintily attempt to teach him those when he is a little older. I think he might be too young yet for those kind of tricks. Im gonna try teaching those to Winnie starting today, she is very smart. I would love to teach Winnie to sneeze and teach Hyde to bring her a kleenex...lol.
I was thinking of stuff that Hyde does now that I can turn into a trick. For example, if I sit on the couch and have him sit in front of me on the floor, and I have a treat, if I put the treat in front of him he makes this face were he lifts up his lips and looks evil,he even gets this evil gleam in his eye,its sooo funny. When he does this he holds that evil face for 3 seconds and then he goes in for the kill and gets the treat. I was thinking of teaching him to make that face on command, but I cant think of any cleaver name for the trick that would be cute. Does any of that make sense?lol
I was thinking of asking him "show me your evil face" but i think thats too long of a command, if you know what i mean. I need something short thats not a sentece to get him to do it. Sorry if this is confusing...lol....thanks!
as for training sydney i think you defiantely have all your bases covered..well done to you and you dogs and its great you can start with the cute stuff lol. I would love to teach Harvey to roll over but im teaching him to bow at the momen~ the bowing one he is getting the hang off. Everytime he stretches I give the voice command which is 'hello Sugar' and treat him
my daughters friend has a boston terrier. she can do about every trick in the book. the cutest of them all is when amanda puts her hand in the shape of a gun and says bang. the dog falls over and plays dead. i laughed my butt off when i saw her do that. and she stays down until she's told she can get up. too cute
Puttin...if you dont want to wait for your dogs to stretch by themselves, you can do this....have the dog stand, kneel beside the dog with a treat in one hand(you can keep the other hand on the dogs back or under its stomach to keep it standing). Put your hand with the treat inbetween the dogs two front legs, and get the dog to take the treat without moving, just getting it use to lower its head between its front legs. Then you can start putting the treat more under the dogs stomach while keeping a hand on the dogs back to insure they dont walk or step, this way the dog has to sort of bow out its legs and tuck its head under its front.
Im not sure how successful this way is but i saw it on a training website. Hopefully my description was too confusing...lol...im gonna try and teach Winnie to bow too.
