New car

I am currently trying to get a auto loan from my bank to see if I can get a new/used car. We were at a friends house last night and he offered us a 99 Cadillac Escalade for 7500. It is black with grey leather interior and it has 72 thousand miles on it. Its in a hell of a lot better shape then our car plus how can we turn down a Escalade that cheap. It also has a clear title. Wish me luck with the loan.

Good luck Paige.  I hope it works out with you.  That would be the perfect car for Oscar.

Caddies have a lot of quirks… to them .. especially when they are in the higher mileage.. keep a watch.  They have to be babied and taken to the shop often.  [ $$$]

Well, I drive a Chrysler Sebring and I think they are the worlds worse car. LOL!!! But my car has 85 thousand miles on it and I just had to put a new transmission in it. I have heard tons of bad things on Chrysler products and I know from experiance they are true. So I figured a Caddie couldn't be too much worse. And my current car has been driven really hard due to the work I do.

That's true.. Chrysler's do have many problems... but I wanted to give you a heads up On caddies because .. the "shop" cost more .. because it is a caddie... --So every little thing.. can add up to a much bigger cost.... plus they are a luxury car and have all that "extra stuff ".. than can break... ( I've owned a few... and would not buy another) They are very nice cars.. nice to drive and travel in... but cost more to maintain.

Good Luck with the Loan Hope you get it.

lucky you !! those are sooooooo nice ! but ivy is right about the maintenance being higher. its like our lexus . when we had to replace the distributor it cost us 950. for a normal car it would have been less than half of that. but i think with the better made cars like the cad and lexus, they dont break down as much so the cost kind of levels itself out. i hope you get it, you will love it ! and such a smooooth ride too. good luck !! i have to make sure i'm wide awake when driving the lexus, its such a smooth ride i could easily fall asleep at the wheel.

I still haven't heard back from the bank. I guess because its a Friday and it was close to closing when we finished. But if i don't get the finacing then our friend talked about buying it and us paying him 250 a month. Pretty cheap for a Escalade.

I think work on any car is expensive. The transmission went out on the Sebring and it cost 1800 to get it fixed. Sucks but we had the money to fix it.

Good Luck!!!

But, remember it's a SUV AKA Gas hog. Using that as a work car might not work out so well. But, on the plus size you have a bigger car and a bigger car means more danes! LOL

I still plan on driving the 4 banger to work. I'm not sure if I could afford to keep gas in the SUV for my job. I drive 75 miles a day for my job.

I sure wish I had not bought my  gas guzzling SUV right before gas prices went up! I love it though. We live 2 blocks from my son's school where I work, so that helps, but it does use the gas and last time I filled up, it was at $52.00 before I knew it and had not completely been filled! It is crazy!!

But Good luck if that is what you want. Escalades are really really nice!

That's too much money for a used car w/ that mileage.
But what do I know.

Actually the the miles is pretty low for being 7 years old. My car is a 02 with 85 thousand miles. Plus we can but it and resale it for 15 thousand. Make some profit. There is a 2000 Escalade on a car lot here with 80 thousand miles and they are asking 18 thousand for it. I feel like I am getting a hell of a deal.

We have a Toyota Rav 4 SUV and it is rated the best SUV for gas milage.  It is a 4 cylinder but really quick.  We love it.  My Wrangler costs more but it has a bigger engine and i don't drive far.  The price sounds good to me.  We paid 14k for our Rav and it's a 2001.  We take really good care of our cars and both have over 100k miles on them but you can't tell.....hehe
