On his way home from work this morning at 4AM, he thought he saw 2 baby racoons playing in the street. Once he got closer he relized they were really 2 black puppies. So my hubby felt bad for these 2 lil guys and stopped and tried to catch them, on a one lane road at night with no lighting in the middle of no mans land. He could only get one, the other one ran into the woods.
She's the sweetest lil thing. I think she is a lab or lab mix not too sure. I'm guessing she's not even 8 weeks yet. Hubby said he's going to try and see if he can see the other one when he comes home tonight.
Anyways, when he got her home she was covered with dirt, fleas and ticks. I gave her a bath with baby shampoo and got the ticks off.
Here she is.....
I don't really want another dog but I have a feeling that we are going to keep her. Hubby was asking me what we should name her. lol After he told me early thig morning "No we aren't going to keep her" I guess spending the day with her broke him in. LOL SO looks like we went to 6 fur babies.
omg she is sooo cute. i hope he is able to catch the other one. poor little guy out their lost in the boondocks. she looks like she has lab in her. she probably feels so much better getting cleaned up and getting all the nasty bugs off her. ticks will suck the blood out of an animal and they can carry lyme desease too. fleas too. she is one lucky little girl that your hubby is a compassionate man. and took the time to rescue her. shes a sweetie.
well done to your husband..hopefully he can find the other pup. I would find it hard to let that puppy go once she came into my home thats one lucky puppy
She's lovely. I see nothing but purebred Labrador in her. Worst case senario is they were dumped because something impure got over the fence to mom. The **** may have just run off to have the pups, though. Labs can dig a 4ft. hole in 15 minutes, so it is easy to escape most unreinforced yards. She is a keeper. Catch the other one. You should be able to get $50. for your trouble on the one you don't keep. In CA, you could get about $3-400 for a purebred, healthy, w/no papers. Worm her with Nemex 2, or Panacur...
Yep she looks lab to me too. I was thinking what if the momma was somewhere nearby too. I hope he can find the other one. Leaving it all alone sounds so scarey.
He stopped at the same place where he found her to see if he could find the other one with no luck. But he also looked for anything dead in or on the side of the road and nothing. So we are hopeing maybe someone else found it and picked it up. Alot of truckers drive down that road maybe one saw it and picked it up as a friend for the road.
I also think she is pure lab, thats the first thing that pooped into my head when I saw her. I took her to the store with me to get some gas and everyone that saw her was like aww what a cute lab puppy. Hubby thinks she might have something else in her cause she has a blue spot on her tongue. Is that normal in Labs?
As of right now her name is Wiggles lol. Thats all she does! Hubby picked it out today while I was at work. He called just to tell me he picked a name. LOL I was thinking more of Sadie but my name "sucks" as he says LOL/
I found 11 ticks on her today. I gave her another bath with puppy shampoo, I also went out and got her some real puppy food since all I had was adult dog food. She's already looking alot better than she did when he brought her home.
My husband's black lab has a black spot on her tounge. She came from a pure bred female that his dad used for hunting and a chocolate lab. He originally wanted to show her but any coloring on the tounge disqualified her, so she turned into a hunting dog (for his dad) and a spoiled cuddly dog for the rest of the family.
The black spot may be a fault, but I would not consider it a disqualification. The pup has a white chest, this is also bred out of many modern lines, but used to be common. 30 years ago, I saw some brindled Labrador pups, as purebred as you can please...It takes a while to get certain traits out of the line. It is real easy to get them back in, though...
