So Katie started her first day of first grade yesterday. Her teacher is a loon. She's well known in this neighborhood for being loony. People call her a fairy. She's about 4'7" and she maybe weighs 80 pds. She just floats around without a care in the world. I talked to her for a while one day last year and I felt like I was talking to a 5 yr. old. I've heard that kids do really well in her class except with reading. A lot of them need tutors before they go into second grade so we'll see. I kind of hinted that I would like Kaitlyn to have her for a teacher to the school. Kaitlyn's kindergarten teacher was extremely strict and she was very cold, not ideal for a kindergarten teacher if you ask me. It was such a battle to get Katie to school everyday last year because she didn't like her at all and she really made her hate school.
On to my point now. Her teacher loves animals. She has a zoo. She only brings in a few animals at a time to get the kids acquainted to them and the ones who aren't used to having pets used to the animals. The animals go to school and go home with her teacher everyday. I have seen her driving home with the animals in her car before and its something to see, that's for sure. Yesterday the kids met the guinea pig, some of the fish, a bird, and the frog. I'm not quite sure what they're meeting today except the bunny. The bunny doesn't like to be in a cage so the bunny comes to school with her everyday and just bounces around the class all day. I sent Kaitlyn carrots for a snack today and I told her to ask her teacher if she could give the bunny some. Kaitlyn is ecstatic.

Aww. Sounds like a good plan. Nothing better than a good teacher to make a student on fire to learn. Math is more important than reading, anyway. I was REAL good at reading, so now I'm a waitress Teach her to read at home. It will give you a reason to buy books at the store. If she's reads them to you, let her get a new one, her choice... I think the animals at school are great. Cuts down on the ones that you need to get for home.
I hope when Kaitlyn starts school she has a treacher like that. I'm with Kitty on this one. Math is way more important. Lucky me I excelled in both reading and math. But then I decided to have a baby.
I agree with you guys also. Thats why I requested Kaitlyn be in there. I still worry because I know Kaitlyn and I know how she can be. She is loving school already this year but Kaitlyn needs someone to push her. When I meet with her teacher next week I am going to request that she do it so maybe she will just a little. When I went to get Kaitlyn out of bed this morning she jumped up and yelled Yeah! Its time to go to school now! I am also loving her having the animals in there. I think they get to take turns bringing home the guinea pig. Possibly the rabbit too. I'm not sure. I think the guinea pig will be fine but I may have to not let her bring home the bunny as upset as she'd be about it. I just don't think I can allow the bunny to hop around my house with the dogs. Especially with a beagle on the loose. Kaitlyn will be very upset though. If the bunny does get to come home maybe I can work out something.
I start my new semester today also. Wish me luck. I have chemistry this semester. I finished my summer semester yesterday. I had 2 finals yesterday. yuck! I have to go to school this semester. I can't take anymore classes on-line except math. I have to go to school 3 night a week from 7-10. I'm not that happy about it because 3 nights a week I don't get to put my babies to bed.

I can't imagine taking 18 hours. I don't know how he does it. I had a hard time with my 8 this summer. I have 13 hours but thats only because I have a lab. I'm worried about taking this many hours. I have told myself that I will not graduate college without a 4.0. I am going to keep taking classes over and over until I do it. I've made all A's so far. I'm worried about this math class I just finished. I either got a B+ or an A-. I will find out before I start my next algebra class so I will know if I should change that course or not. I know this is an extremely high goal I've set for myself but I know that there is no way I will get into UPenn vet school without straight A's and even with them there's a 50/50 chance.

Brad said that one of the hardest classes he took was Physics and Trig. He is pretty smart. But he has tons of time on his hands. LOL!!! But I think he has been in school for about 2 years and he is already classified as a junior. But he won't graduate until either December of 2008 or May of 2009.
What is he going to school for? Just curious. I am currently majoring in Biology but I got accepted into a University starting in the spring (I applied over the summer). I was accepted into the Small Animal Sciences program. I'm very excited.

He is going to be a mechanical engineer. I have no idea what they do but I know the money is really good. Thats all that matters. LOL!!! He used to be a welder and he made pressure vessels and heat exchangers. But ever since his accident he has to find a new field of work. I guess he's lucky he has brains. But he is attending Midwestern State University. Very expensive school. I think this semester with classes and books it was just about 9 thousand.
wow zoe, you have a busy schedule. lol . i think having a good teacher makes a big impact on children. i still remember my kindergarten teacher and it was long ago. she was a loving and caring person. my mom told me that when school let out for the summer i would walk around the house singing "poor old misses shockley, she lost all her children" lol . its wonderful that she brings pets. kids should be taught at a young age to respect animals. it will carry through with them into adulthood.
i wish you luck with your schooling. chemistry was always hard for me in school. that and history. i am sure you will do fine.
