I'm a big fan off animals but especially love cats and dogs. There was one particular cat who would come into the garden and have a lye in the sun with Harvey. This cats name was also Harvey and they seemed to love each others company. He was the only cat that Harvey would let into the garden and it was nice for Harvey to have some company.
well i had a party the other night and slept in late the next morning.. i got up as usual and look out at the view from the bedroom window. I looked down and there was Harvey the cat lying on the grass verge about 1 foot from the road. He obviously wasnt sleeping and i quickly threw some clothes on and ran downstairs. I was soooo mad as a car had obviously hit him and it wasnt to long ago as he was still warm and floppy and the blood that had poured from his nose and mouth was still bright red. He must have been hit pretty hard and i was soo upset. It looked like he was hit hard and i think all his chest was caved it.
I was so upset to see such a beautifull cat die in such a horrid way..Its the second cat in 5 months i have found dead by the road and thats 2 cats too many. Im writing to my local county council about the speeding through the village. It is a small narrow road but lorries etc use it. Its full off tight bends which catch people out and its a 30mph limit but people have been clocked doing 70mph. The animals have not a chance ..
Make them add some speed bumps across the road in a couple places. Tell them you are planning to have children there and the cars are a danger. If those dirtballs hit a speed bar going 70, they will rip the bottom off their car
Ah TwinK, I'm sorry about your neighborhood Harvey. Thay is just aweful. I think speed bumps would definately do the trick. Do you have them in the U.K.?
that is sad.speed bumps would slow people down, but a cat can be killed even at 20 miles an hour. cats are roamers and they will travel. people that want to keep their pets safe need to keep them confined. dogs inside a fence and cats indoors. my cats are indoors only. if you live a long ways from a road, it would be different, but when living near a road, a pet should not be allowed to roam.
Yeah we have speed bumps here but only in small housing estates/blocks. People use the road through our village like a rat run ~ its a quick route to get from A to B and they go as fast as they can even though the roads are narrow and full of blind bends.
Im still drafting a letter to the local MP regarding the village and we even had a peacefull protest in the village about 2 years ago but nothing was done. Its time to step up a gear and get this problem heard and hope fully this timw the council will pull theor finger out of their a$$ and do something about it. I can see a person getting hit by a car soon before anyone bothers to do anything Ive written to the local village news letter to spread the word and to ask as many people as possible to write to the local MP David Ruffley
