i got them in an email from huron, whom i miss having her here very much, i dont know where she got them from. but i,m sure she wouldnt mind you posting them. i dont mind. i dont think i would have took a chance taking pictures from that close though. i would have been long gone ! lol

They were prolly taken buy storm chasers, they live to be in the middle of storms! I think they are crazy!

I got this reply from a geologist that works for the government[Cal Tech grad... all that]

These pictures are NOT from Katrina. They have been around for many years. They are from a storm in Austrailia, and not a hurricane. Also, the countryside is not even close. I am staged in Mississippi waiting to go into New Orleans at this time. It looks like a war zone here. Tell Harry I said hello from the disastor zone.

"Actually those are a tornado in Kansas or some such. The land around New Orleans isn't quite that flat, and they don't grow corn down there.

Still, definitely pictures taken from some place that by preference you would rather not be!"

Sorry, I could not remember the name "Snopes" they are always the way to go on checking out stuff...
I went into my files, found the url for Snopes, they say this...regardless, they are great photos. It was no doubt the same at Katrina!
