We were setting up the boarding kennel for Koda and then we asked about the shots, Koda has his rabies from a vet but I have given him the rest. They said that they will not take Koda because his shots were not given by a licensed vet. Everywhere else has been fine with it but they said he cannot even come in the door. They pretty much told us tough luck because I cannot get his shots again. (He just got them a few weeks ago.) So now, I have to find something else to do with him. I suppose it is a good precaution but there are a ton of people that give there own shots. So now I am on the hunt again for somewhere for him to stay. :(
I guess in a way it kind of makes sense. I mean, you have no proof that you gave them yourself right? Maybe I'm wrong about that but if that is the case (no proof) than people could say they give their dogs the vaccines themselves all the time when really they didn't. It could be cause for some major liability.

I have the labels off of the bottles and they are put with all of my shot records. Everywhere else accepts that. Even my VET! My dog training accepts that, and so did the agility class.
I thought that there may be labels from the vaccines but I wasn't sure because I have never given my own vaccines. Well since my first guess was wrong than I have no idea although I'm sure it has to do with some kind of liability I just don't know what. Maybe since your vet has the labels they can print you out a shot record for Koda that won't say who gave the shots. I don't see where that would be a problem. My vet prescribed prozac for me so my insurance would cover it even though it was for Zoe.
