I have to get a new ID and DL. In order to do this I need my birth certificate and social security card along with my marriage certificate. Sounds simple right? Wrong! See in order to get my birth certificate at the local office I need ID which I cannot get without my birth certificate. Now before you go crosseyed with this it gets better still because see I could always order my birth certificate via fax application instead of going in then i don't need ID. But to do that I am required to pay by credit card. Which I do not have. Umm someone tell me if they are not just making this nearly inpossable for some people and why would they give a birth certificate to someone without ID who ordered by fax but not someone who came in person? I can have anyone order with their credit card but I cannot go and physically pick it up myself!

LMAO! I'm so sorry to laugh but I have SOOOO been threw this!!! See where I was born they do not keep your birth certificate once you have got it from them that is it. They do not keep a copy or anythng!!! They keep a record that Yes you were born there and that is it! I went threw this when I got married and when I lost my DL a few years back. There are loop holes but finding them is hard. See here in Florida if you don't have car insurance and you get pulled over they take your DL. NOW in order to get insurance you have to have a VALID DL but you can't get you DL back UNTIL you have insurance!!! LOL BUT you can get your DL IF your smart enough. LOL You have to prove that you are getting insurance ( a statment from the car insurance company) and they will give it to you. Now depending on what you need it you may try something along that line. The DMV SHOULD take anything (ID form ie something plastic from a company) that has your picture and name. If you have Bank Of American and have your picture on you debit card that will work.

Sometimes they will accept copies of bills you receive with your name and address on them such as utility bills or doctors bills, etc. If you own your own property perhaps a deed copy. Vehicle registration or title, car insurance policy, life insurance policy. Depending on the department sometimes they will require a different number of ID's so I'd gather up any of these types of documents & any others you can think of and then see what they will accept.
Hubby is going through it now... been trying for a month... and my girlfriend had her home broken into and all her ID stolen ( all).... and she has been trying for 3 1/2 months to retain ID again.
The FEDERAL GOV. Has made It so HARD for reg. U.S. Citizens to get one... it's frigging crazy. I understand about terrorists ... BUT for those of us who are already in the system for many years... and HAVE PAID TAXES... why do we have to go through all the BS. ? errrr!
wisconsin will NOT give me a license or ID without my berth certificate and I was born in wisconsin so my birth certificate is here. It seemed so simple until I found ou they absolutly will not give me one without the other in either case. Now I cant go an hour or so away and physically get my dertificate in person without Id but i can order it by fax and not show an Id but then I need the stinking credit card. I don't have one UGH!!! I have gone back and forth with them and bills would help with my DL along with a lease in my name but then again I just got here and have no bills or lease yet. So in short I am screwed. I have to have my mom order my certificate my ex hubby go to get my marriage certificate showing I am married to my CURRENT hubby and then go for a SS card and they will give me a print out with my number till the card comes to me. Honestly our gov. officicials can mess up a wet dream!
