Zoe and the ice cream

Its also a no go.  I"m stunned now.  I don't know what to do.  The treats that hide the pill won't work.  Zoe won't chew things.  She doesn't even eat kibble because she won't chew it.  With all of the things I was putting the medicine in I had to do the bites tiny so that all she would have to do was swallow them.  I think she won't chew because she licks so much her teeth hurt.  This no chewing is also recent.  Her bottom teeth are almost worn away.  I'm going to yoga and than I'm going to get cream cheese.  I have to find something or I will be one of the horrible moms whose dogs needs medicine but won't give it to them.  This is a 2-3 hour chore everyday that I don't have.  I have to find something that works.

Did you try grinding it and mixing it with 1/2 tsp of mackerel juice? Mash a tsp. of the mackerel, add the laced juice, then give that to her. Do your dogs eat fish? Mackerel is next to the salmon and tuna in the market. It is real strongly fishy smelling. My dogs all love it.

I didn't try mackeral but I tried tuna and salmon.  Does mackeral smell stronger?  I got the cream cheese so I'm going to try that in a few minutes.  If this doesn't work I'll go get mackeral.  I'm going to try it first without grinding and if it doesn't work with the cream cheese I will try grinding it.  She's very big on the way things smell.  She smells everything before she eats it and if she doesn't like the smell she turns her nose up and walks away.  I think the smell would be less without grinding so thats why I'm going to try it that way first.

Zoe… here just yet another idea… could you take the pill and crush it, then add a touch of some tasty fluid , then get one of those plunger syringes ( w/out the needle) ,,, [the kind you would feed kitties or puppies with] , Suck the mixture up and then kind of force the liquid in the mouth to the back of ….and squirt.

I SO know it seems cruel.. but if you have to ....you have to .... ~get the meds IN…

Ivy that sounds like a good idea.  The only thing that worries me about this is that she will gag it up the way she does when I force the pill down her throat.  If the cream cheese doesn't work I will definitely give it a try.

A dog who won't eat ice cream definitely has issues.   Ice Cream

I think she just knows what you are trying to do. But I bet that if the food didn't have the meds in it she would gobble them up. LOL!!!!!

I thought the same thing Paige.  After I finally got her to take her medicine yesterday I offered her some more ice cream and the bean burritto that was left and she wouldn't touch either of them.  I've also offered her thousands of things today and I haven't tried to give her, her medicine at all.  She just doesn't like to eat.  She eats about once every 3 days and thats it.
