So I am trying to help my friend find a good standard poodle breeder. I came across a website of a breeder that doesn't live that far away and wanted to get your opinion on them. They breed both standards and airdales. I called and talked to the lady and she sounded very knowledgable(sp) of the breeds.
The only thing that bothered me is on the "Available Puppies" where she had put "(SPOKEN FOR)MALE SHOWING SIGNS OF BEING SILVER (RARE COLOR) LIKE DADDY"
They do not show prices but I can't help but wonder if they sell the "rare" ones for more. I did not look through a whole lot of the sight but her dogs look well taken care of. It depends on what she wants the dog for. It says that her dogs come from show lines but doesn't say if they show or not. But I do like the fact that they do genetic testing. I don't know, seems like it wouldn't be a bad place to get a pet puppy. I don't know if I would get a show dog from someone who doesn't show. JMO
When i asked for her prices she said that they are $800 for limited reg and $1000 for complete reg. I do believe that she does do comf with her dogs....not sure though. There is a pic of her with her party poo in a ring...thats all i have to go by. If she does i doubt she does a lot of it. THANKS SO MUCH KATZ
Just wondering, Jess, why don't you ask LTLGTO about his standard pups?? He breeds standards as well as toys, doesn't he?? I'd go with him, over just about anybody, since you know he does conformation and shows and all that. Just thought I'd throw that out there.
I was going to suggest LTLGTO as well. He knows his stuff when it comes to poodles. PUTTIN as well, I'm sure she could suggest a reputable breeder. If anything else, you could check out the AKC website for a list of reputable breeders

is LTLGTO a member of this forum??? The prob is that my friend was hoping to find a breeder that she could actually go to and visit, and pick out the pup in person.
My sister in law breeds genetically certified, Champion line Standard Poodles. She lives in Eugene, Oregon. Conveniently, she is also a groomer, and my brother hunts ducks with the Standards. They are white with pom-poms, pink ribbons and all, and he takes them to hunt tests [people go berserk when they see this]. My brother is a hefty big guy and the poodle in the dorky haircut [that is actually a water-hunting cut] looks amazing with him.
Jess, LTLGTO is a member of this forum, and he is still a member over at TP, but he doesn't come here much, just to look around and that's about it. I bet you could maybe get ahold of him from TP otherwise, you could dig thru old posts where he has his website posted and get ahold of him that way.
I know Gto is selling his standrards. But he may know. I like the smaller ones. What state are you in? I can give you his dogster page. and you can message him. I also belong to a poodle forum. These people are all over the world that go there. I have always kept Gto's site bookmarked. Where are you?
Hey, I also know of a couple gals that do poodle rescue, they are in Michigan.
I think I have heard him say he has his dogs in different states, but people go to the breeders too. Not certain if he ships though. He could definately tell you who has standards. He is not breeding his two spoos anymore and is rehoming them very soon. He has people who want them. Actually, here is his website, look on his friends page, there is two breeders in Oregan there.
Also I believe there are a few hobbyist breeders on the poodle forum I go to. There is poodle rescue gals on it also. Let me know if you want the link.
Also, I was looking at that site you provided above. Usually when you mate two different color like that, the silver and the apricot you get washed out colors. Dilutes is what they call them, GTO actually told me about that. That is what happened with Lilly. She had a red daddy and a silver mamma. She was born apricot, but at one year she is cream. A true apricot is apricot all over the body. In most of those pictures that site has, his female looks mostly cream to me. The pups she had that have a bit of apricot on them, will more than likely be cream like my dogs. Mating two similar colors that have the same breeding color history in their lines will help assure that they will have staying color. Like breeding the blacks , they sometimes turn an icky salt and pepper. A good black should stay jet black for a good many years.
I knew my Lilly would turn cream, that was ok for me, she was a gift. I love her color anyway. Pretty much the same color as my other one.
Thanks so much for your help and suggestions guys! I really appreciate it. We are really hoping to find a GOOD breeder within driving distance that she can afford. She is willing to spend up to $800 or $900 but i am thinking that she would not be able to afford any higher than that. So we are also hoping to find a good breeder with reasonable prices.
