I think the dogs can tell.
Last week, I was at work. My boss is going fishing so he was watering his yard well. He left and I took over the hose moving. Well this truck was out in front of his house, possibly the tree was shading it, but not much anymore. Two dogs were in the bed of the truck, A pit bull and a greyhound mix looking dog. I had the house and I was talking doggie talk to them, you know the funny voice we use when talking to the furry ones. LOL I approached carefully, fully thinking they would start barking at me to make me get away. They did not. I held up my hand to the greyhound mix first. He was wagging his tail, very friendly I thought. Slowly let the pit smell me. She did fine too. No acting like she would bark or growl at all. I say you want some water. As if they will answer me. I could tell they would not like a bath, when I watered a bit close to the truck. I gave them both some water. Petter them some more, then went in and called my sister down at the corner market for the phone number to the cafe I thought the owner may be at. Spoke to the waitress
She said yes he's here. In a new york or jersey accent. I told her I did not need to speak to him, just ask him if he would come move his truck up more to shade the dogs as it was a very hot day. She did tell him. I expected possibly a mad person to come out. about 15 mintues later I see a guy walking up, not what I expected. A nice looking regulr kind of guy who is smiling at me. He said he can nnot believe his dogs were letting me near his truck. He said the male always starts barking. the female(pit) does not start barking till you get right near her. They both were very sweet to me. They saw my bosses big kitty and got excited and barked a second at him. But not at me. I was petting and lovin on his dogs and he said I was the only person he knew of that was able to do that. He said his dogs must of sensed that I loved dogs. They do know!!!!!
That made me feel pretty darn good.
