Kula got his CGC today!! I was sure he would fail, because he has a tough time staying calm for the part when I leave the room for 3 minutes, but he did great! The evaluator did cut him some slack on that one...he whined a bit, but as long as he wasn't barking, pulling on the leash or whining continuously she said he was OK. Everything else he did really, really well on.
Now I've got a two week break, and then Marley starts Puppy Kindergarten! I may take Kula to Agility next weekend and see how he does...

Well, I do so much testing on dogs I hoped you were just talking about a test Congratulations. My dogs all need a lot more work. I flaked on obedience last week [1st day/ sign-up]. So I'm a bad mommie I think I'm burned out, and want to do a little more housecleaning, and stuff for myself. Do ya think it would be too selfish to NOT go to dog class until spring? All the 4 dogs that I have, have been through the 8 weeks of training, and 3 of the 4 have done double that. I just want some time to relax where I don't have chores and times to do things in my day. I think the furred ones will be ok with a few months of unsupervised company. I have attended classes year-round for 3 years, now...
Kitty, it definitely sounds like you've earned some time for yourself (although I'm not so sure housecleaning fits into that category!!) I would think your dogs would be just fine with a break...it's not as if they're unsocialized little demons and you'll still be practicing all the basics just in day-to-day living. Kick back, rest and enjoy!!
Thanks. It only takes a hour, but then there is going to, and coming from, and being covered with hair and spit, the rest of the night. Also, I just resent having to do something in my favorite time of day. I sleep during the day, so 7pm is prime time as far as doing things goes. Class means that one of my two days off is taken up by dog class, so I can forget getting anything done that day, for 2 months. The other 5 days, I don't do much, for fear I will be tired for work, and after work, I can barely stand from exhaustion, and yet have to cook dinner every night, before I can even sit down... The house is a wreck, and desperately needs dirt scraping everywhere. I have tons of things that need to be trashed or sold. The last session, I was late to all the classes, and absent from one, and I was just taking a different dog each week... I would rather take pictures of the dogs and let all of them have time out, than only one going to class being the lucky one. If I want to go to the park, it is available whenever I want. It also occurs to me that the dog flu made the news here, yesterday, so I'm not keen on getting that
