The surgery itself went well Dr. Anderson said. The shunt was large and Hollys liver was small and discolored. He did a biopsy, and I will get results on friday or monday. They didnt want me to come to see her yesterday. So I went there right after my first shift this morning, and she wasnt doing so hot. Her temp was 96, and there suposed to be up towards 101 Dr Anderson said. He thought it might be from the morphine, and so he stopped giving her painkiller. So she was in alot of pain, very groggy, and about every 45 seconds she was having tremors. I thought, OMG< The worst possible thing is going to happen, and she is going to go into seisures. I did not want to leave, but the Aholes at my work didnt have anyone to cover me, so I had to. I left there crying and thinking it was going to be the last time I saw her. BUT of course, need I even say it......Holly started coming around. Her temp is up to 98 now, and they were even able to take her on a walk outside! I am so happy, and thankful that she is so stubborn, and such a tough little girl! They said if she keeps up all this improvement, Holly may be able to come home tomorrow evening! And Thanks again Puttin, you really helped save Hollys life!
I did not really do much. Helped a tad monitarily, and passed on info from them to you. I am sooo glad she is doing so well. I can't wait till she is a regular little pug girl.
Holly is at home! She got home and was running around still having occasional tremors though. So I set up a heating pad in her kennel . The shunt will take 4 weeks to close , but the first 48 hours are usually the time when seisures are suposed to occur. So she has passed that, so hopefully she wont go into full blown seisures. I just spoke to one of the Vets at the U of M that had been monitering Holly in the ICU, and she told me to go buy a thermometer, and moniter her temp. This AM she ate 3/4 of her K/d, and seems tired and groggy now. The vet said to bring her back if her temp takes a dive again, or if the grogginess or lethargy gets worse. I pray to god that will not happen. I hope she is just REALLY FULL!!! The vet also said just give her time to digest her food, and see if that will help. Im glad she is home, I am also glad its the weekend so I can keep a close eye on her.
Hollys getting a little more active now. Here is pics of when we left the University of Minnesota. Holly, my son Lucas, and Charlie Brown and Snoopy too!
wonderful news ! great pic too. i couldnt see the second pic, but the first one is cute. you are probably all so happy to have her home as much as she is to be there. i'm sure things will only get better for her from here on out !
I sure hope your right Dusty! I know that second pic wasnt working- It was funny though cuz Holly had her head in "Snoopys bowl", there were like real treats in there that were laquered. It was so funny! She is right now in her kennel cause she was shivering bad again. So I am forsing her on her heating pad!
if shes anything like my frenchies, then she loves treats ! i think mine would eat goodies all day til they popped. i like your avatar too. she is such a cutie. but i am a sucker when it comes to those flat little faces ! she has been through quite an ordeal and it sounds like she wants to get back to her old self before shes ready. keep her warm and smother her with kisses and i'm sure she will be just fine
I love the smooshie faces too! Obviously! Istill have a pic of Rocky saved on my computer! He is my fav, his sis is a doll too! Something about Rocky though, he looks so so cute! I had Steve my ex-fiance take pics of Holly with his digital camera before Hollys big surgery! Thats where my new avater came from. He keeps saying I only cry and care, or spend my time caring for or about animals. He dosnt call me by my name, he calls me {and I quote!} "The Neglectorer!" Hope I spelled it right! Animals are more LOYAL though, and appreciative!
I'm so glad to hear Holly's surgery went well & she's home! I'm sure she'll recover by leaps & bounds now that she's home with those who love her! That pic is adorable!
Oh how sweet. She is small isn't she. Did the vet say the shivers are caused by the blood flowing correctly? I know i got the shivers right after giving birth because the blood is not longer going into the placeta any longer it is redirected to the main body.
