My breeder just told me what he uses for the puppies. We do not have it in this area but I have never used it and was wondering how good of a food it is. Ching will be put on Natural Balance after he gets here but I have just never heard of this brand of food.......
i have never heard of it , but 32% protein seems awfully high for a puppy. i have heard thats its not good to feed puppies food that is so high in protein and that it can actually cause problems with their growing bones.
lol, The potatoe and duck is a great one. We use the ultra premium right now. Koda should be one the reduced calorie one but I really do not want to buy two different bags of food. I think I will just exercise him more! LOL
I put the wrong link up, I fixed it though, that was the small breed and medium breed, this is for large breed puppy. Chows are right on the brink of med/large and so typically if you feed a "breed size" food, you should go up with chows because of their girth.
okay thats much better. lol the small breed puppy was 32%. the large breed puppy is only 26%. big difference. i would check out things like availability also. if its not what you plan on feeding him, then you might want to get the brand that you are going to feed him and gradually switch him over.
That is what I am going to do. We already have the Natural Balance and the breeder is sending a small bag of the stuff he is on now so that I can switch him over slowly.
Chicken, chicken meal, brewers rice, brown rice, whole grain ground wheat, corn gluten meal[ THAT'S A NO-NO], poultry fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols (a source of vitamin E), citric acid and rosemary extract), barley, oatmeal, beet pulp, digest of poultry, fish meal, flax seed, whole dried eggs, potassium chloride, brewers yeast, spray dried poultry liver digest, DL methionine, salt, chelated minerals (iron proteinate, zinc proteinate, copper proteinate, manganese proteinate, cobalt proteinate, magnesium proteinate, yeast fermentation solubles), choline chloride, dried saccharomyces, fermentation solubles, (saccharomyces cerevisiae, enterococcus faecium, lactobacillus acidophilus, aspergillus niger, trichoderma longibrachiatum, bacillus subtillis) [THAT'S A BIG HELP-KEEPS THE PUP FROM GETTING DIARRHEA], maltodextrins and fermentation solubles), vitamins (vitamin A acetate, vitamin D3 supplement, vitamin E supplement, niacin, pantothenic acid, thiamine mononitrate, pyridoxine hydrochloride, riboflavin supplement, menadione sodium bisulfite complex (source of vitamin K activity), folic acid, biotin, vitamin B12 supplement), taurine, vitamin C, yucca schidigera extract.
If she says she insists you stay with this, I would get a bit of it from her. Otherwise use Nutro ULTRA. If she will not guarantee the pup against diarrhea unless you use her food, I would not blame her a bit. Chances are, if you switch foods, you will get a floral overbalance, your vet will call it Parvo, and the circus will begin...
