I walked by my sons snake tank today and noticed a snake dropping on top of the lid. I frantically checked the tank and Snow is no where to be found. My son is so upset. At least it is only a small corn snake but i keep hopeing he will slither out of hiding.........lol I set 3 live traps around the house (pop bottle with snake dinner in them) so i hope he goes after one. Who knows if we will find him. The dogs or cats may first....
i am not fond of snakes at all. if i had one loose in my house, pet or no pet, i would be a nervous wreck and watching every step.when my grandson brought in a little garter snake that he found, he had to come show it to me.i was like "oh isnt he cute" and in my head i was thinking "eeewww , please hurry and take it back outside" lol
Once, when I was a kid, our 3+ft.long Boa [that was a secret from my dad, who hated snakes], got loose. Some months later, I dreamed of a snake in a closet, upon opening my brother's closet, we saw the snake inside, in a bit of a cut-out inside the closet, that led to under the house, he was retrieved w/o incident...
Well, i found him. He appeared about 4:00 this morning on my desk in the living room.........lol So, i put him away and fixed the top of his tank. Apparently not good enough because my son woke me up 3 hours later with the snake in his hands. He said he found it slithering up the wall!!! So, hubby made a great, tight fitting, metal top for the tank. No more loose snake now.....lol........i hope
OMFG!!! I would literally sh*t myself if I found a snake slithering up my wall!!! EEEWWWWYYY!!!! That is just one animal that I refuse to have in my home. Unless, of course, it was a boa or something that couldn't get lost quite so easily. I do this lady's hair (the one that's giving me the bearded dragon) and she told me that her daughter's corn snake got out of it's tank and the lady found it when she went to put her shoes on!!! She thought the tail of it was part of her shoelace!! I about crapped myself just listening to her tell the story. And she doesn't like snakes either, but is extremely tolerant of whatever animals her kids bring in the house as pets. OH MAN!!
I'm glad you found him! They are incredible escape artists. If you go to your local reptile store, they should have lid clasps you can buy to hold the lid down. Unless you already did that and it didn't work, lol. Otherwise, a phone book on both ends of the tank lid work well. Because they usually squeeze out of the corners. My python got out once and he was hanging out under our bed the next day. I wonder what that would have done to the night terrors I already have if he would have slithered into our bed while we were sleeping, lol.
