I will be working at the kennel my family has used since I was a kid. I'm really excited because the place is nice, and because I've been there a thousand times since the hurricane, I've gotten to know a few of the staff members. They seem pretty cool.
When I first evacuated here, my mom made me board the cats because she hates cats. Henry, my feral cat (and I'm not kidding about the feral part--it's a long story how I ended up with him), bit the manager badly when she noticed he was bleeding and tried to see if he was okay, and I had to get him out of his area because nobody there could touch him. It was a big mess, but the manager and Henry are both okay now. The manager was pretty understanding about the whole thing.
Jeremy continued to stay with them for a while after the Henry incident, but I got to bring him home after a month when he started to show signs of anxiety. Jer is pretty laid back, so it took him a month to become at all concered about being in the kennel. Then, of course, I had to board Argus, McKeever, and Jeremy when I went to New Orleans (Henry stayed with the vet), so I've been at this kennel a lot in the past six weeks. I think I'll like working there.

good luck with your new job. anything that is working around animals wouldnt be like a job to me though. i am thinking about some part time work myself . and also looking at kennel work. i am sure you will enjoy it and let us know how it goes. good luck !
That's really neat Proto! I would love to find a job working with animals. The animal clinic by me would be nice, but my hubby works long hours. No shelters nearby that are open later *sigh*

Are you staying in st. louis?? If you dont mind me asking which kennel is it because I am going out of town in December and need a place to board Beeper and Bacon. Its the first time I have to leave them in a kennel and I am extremely nervous about it.
